MrMackeyMKayyy
So I have been having extremely high temps lately with my h100i and I have no idea what is going on. Operating System: Windows 8 Pro 64bit Motherboard: MSI Z77A-G45 Gaming Graphics/Video Card (GPU): x2 EVGA GTX 680 4gb Processor (CPU): Intel i5 2500k Hard Drive (HDD): WD Black 1TB Memory (RAM): Corsair Vengence 16gb 1600MHz Other Notes: Cooler: Corsair H100i So I started playing the Battlefield 4 beta and noticed that my CPU was hotter than it has ever been before. http://gyazo.com/58635fb5eb483c927ac741a0e12f5e41.png At full load while playing BF4 Beta it reached up to 90c at a full load. It seems like my corsair H100i is doing nothing at all, any thoughts? This also happens with ARMA and some other games, also with rendering videos. I was told that my back-plate was incorrectly installed which I can now see and I am hoping that is the issue. I tried to take the brackets off be decided not to because I did not have any thermal paste to replace with what was already on it (the pre-applied paste, yes I know shame on me I learned my lesson). http://i1076.photobucket.com/albums/w451/MrMackeyMKayyy/IMG_1954_zps7e6c498d.jpg Well when I was attempted to take the brackets off, I unplugged the micro-usb from the cooler, but not the motherboard and decided to put it back on and turn the machine back on. Now I have no control over my H100i from Corsair Link 2. It does not show my processor temps or my fan speeds for the h100i. As you can see in the pictures below, the first one is when I was able to monitor the fans and temps, and in the second picture you can see that I am now unable to see anything. I made sure that the micro usb was connected correctly to the h100i which it was, and to the motherboard which it also was, I have no idea what is going on now. When it worked. http://gyazo.com/faa585125795aa3dc7101d2bdca5791a.png Now: http://gyazo.com/f8db877f2c036438ca1d42ed439ea42c.png I have my thermal paste coming in tomorrow hopefully so I can re-fit the bracket and make sure that it is fitted correctly, but as for the connection between corsair link 2 and my h100i I have no idea what is going on. Current Version of CorsairLink: 2.3.4816 Please let me know of any information which I may have left out as I will update the thread as soon as possible with the information. I thank you so much for assisting me and I hope that I can get this issue solved!
wytnyt
those temps are high, check and make sure pump speed is ~2200 in bios, and id redo the paste but when you unplugged the cooler, did you unplug the computer or trip the rear power and wait 30 seconds before unhooking the cooler? i also believe your backplate is 90 degrees off,is the m/b in your pic showing top >? how long has the cooler been installed? I believe that the fans and pump are at the default speed because I can see that the fans are at least moving, I will check the bios in a moment. When I unplugged the micro usb, I had shutdown my computer, I did not unplug the power or change the switch. My bracket is 90 degrees off, when I get my thermal paste I will fix that. D: meaning you killed it,,make sure tho when you reconnect it,it gets put on the same header if you did spike it,it will still cool usually but it runs a default setting and you cant control the fans

I may just have to order a new cooler =/
