Mike 399
I installed my Samsung 850 Pro SSD in the one of the quick change bays and it did not work. I them moved it down below my 2TB hard drive and it did not work. I then removed it from the quick change bay and set it free standing in the bottom of the top bays and connected the power and sata data cable directly to the drive and it worked. Is there a secret way for getting it to work in a quick change bay?

Mike 399
That is what I was thinking. I thought that there might some magic way to get it to work in the quick change bay. How did you secure the ssd. Do I need to get a tray Thanks
Toasted
I'd recommend you plug the SSD directly to the motherboard instead of the hot-swap bay. Its possible the SSD connections are not making contact with the PCB which is why its not working. You don't have to secure your SSD to the case as there are no moving parts inside it. How did you secure the ssd. Do I need to get a tray Thanks you need a 2.5 to 3.5 adaptor to mount them in the bottom bays, most ssd comes with it or you can pick one up for about $2-$3 pretty cheap and always useful to have. Mike 399
Do you have a brand name for it. I think I just ordered one that cannot use the L SATA cable - I might need a straight cable. Maybe I can use a hack saw on it if I can't find one the fits right
gotendbz1
I have something like this and you are correct you will need a straight angle sata cable unless you are able to mount the ssd flush with the edge of the adaptor.
Mike 399
Thanks for the help. That looks just like one of the two I ordered about 2 hours ago. Really appreciate the help. If I resolve this, I think I can call my first build complete and a success.
Mike 399
I forgot to close this out. I tried to load the SSD again in a lower quick release bay and was extremely careful to be sure that I had the connectors aligned when I inserted the tray. It worked. I guess I might not have been very careful that the connectors lined up. It works perfectly now - without any 3d party adapters.
