Entrophius
Two problems: 1. Extreme coil whine, I've never heard such a loud coil whine from any of my computers for at least the 5 last years I've been building them. It is present under any type of load, and also during a paperclip-test. It is also present while the unit is not powered on, though then not as loud. The whine itself keeps going for some 4-5 seconds, then it stops for a very short moment, then it goes on for some seconds again, and that routine keeps on going until it's shut down. 2. The 24 pin connector that connects to the unit itself won't fit correctly. The smaller half of the cable pair clips into place nicely, however the second half with more cables attached to it won't clip on securely no matter what, and when not pushing on the connector it will slide out a bit. While the thing does work I'm not feeling perfectly safe using it, even the slightest movement in the cable will drag it out quite a bit. I suppose a solution would be to break off the clip meant to keep it in place in the unit, but I don't really want to do that either. So, any help on this matter or have other users experienced the same thing as me? Could also note that this is my second unit, the first one I returned to the retailer for the exact same reasons. I have opened a ticket on the corsair support page too, but shipping it from Norway to the US would cost me quite a bit of time and money.
peanutz94
he connectors can be tough to get in , you just need to push really hard. it should go in. Don't worry about breaking anything pushing...they wont. However the coil whine is another thing. Have you tried the noisy PSU sticky above to see if any of the BIOS settings cause it stop? http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=85166
Entrophius
Yes I have tried power settings on both my current system and an older system, the coil whine is still there. I can push the connector all the way in, but it will pop a little bit out again since the clip is not getting locked correctly, so no, it will not go in. peanutz94
No worries! I would go ahead and have it replaced then. Links to the left! :)
