azovsky
Hi, I'm planning to add more memory. My PC was assembled By Cyberpower. I have 6 GB of memory: 2GB x 3 of DDR3 Corsair Dominator, part # CM3X2G1600C9D6. I've heard that this part number is specific to Cyberpower and that it is an OEM version of the discontinued part # TR3X6G1600C9 with specs listed here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=20-145-222. Is this correct? If the above is correct then the best match seems to be this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145321. The specs are identical. And it's from Corsair as well. Is this a good choice? Also, the memory was initially running at 1066 MHz by default. I've been using a memory profile in BIOS that let's me run it at 1600 MHz. When I add more memory would I still be able to run it at 1600 MHz? I'm guessing that I'll have to change the settings manually, correct? One more thing. Is the fan that comes with CMP12GX3M3A1600C9 optional? Can I install it without the fan? I'm not sure if I'll have room. Thanks in advance! Yellowbeard
We cannot guarantee mixing any 2 memory kits not sold together, regardless of the listed specifications. The only way to know if it will work is to test them together.

Really your best option is to just use the 12gig kit all by itself and ditch or sell the 6 gig kit. This way you are guaranteed that the memory will run at it's rated speed.
