moocow
I been running Memtest+ 4.x for the pass 3 days and keep running into errors at Test #5. I tried manually setting the voltage to 1.8v, 667Mhz, 5-5-5-15. I also tried changing the voltage to 2.0v and 2.5v with 5-5-5-15 and 6-6-6-15 timing but still failing at Test #5. The motherboard is an Asus P5KPL-CM and both RAM would pass Memtest at default setting individually and this is not a paired kit.

Test each stick one at a time in the first slot at default settings. Make sure you clear you CMOS before swapping modules. If they both pass that way then it would be best to return them for a matched set.
moocow
Already tested it one at a time at default setting. Can't return them for a paired kit since it's way pass the return date plus they were a gift.
Yellowbeard
Unfortunately it sounds as if you have 2 modules that your CPU + MOBO is not capable of running together. Our best suggestion is to buy a matched kit of memory and find another use for your current modules. Perhaps you could sell them?
moocow
Well I have 3 other motherboards that I can try the RAM on and see what happens. But 2 of them is already running 4x2GB paired RAM so I don't really know what will happen. I could sell them used but don't feel comfortable selling something that aren't working properly. Yellowbeard
Not working properly? You have tested them individually and they work fine.
moocow
I meant selling them as a pair. If I can't get them to work as a pair, I can't really sell them as a pair. I don't really see people buying single sticks anymore.
