BrashAchilles
I understand that the SPs are for using in places where they exhaust into an obstructed area. The unique flow they create is optimized for working its way around obstructions. HFs are for exhausting (blowing) the maximin amount of air into an unobstructed area. 2 questions. 1. Is the honeycomb design grid on the back the C70 case an " obstructed" area? I'm using an HF 120 to exhaust air out of the case through the honeycomb pattern metal grid and filter on the back of the case. 2 What about pulling air through the same type of metal honeycomb grid and an air filter into the case?. I have an HF 120 on the front of the case blowing air into the case. The flow from this fan is not obstructed, I removed the drive bay. I assume SP and HF designs are the same when drawing air into the fan from an "obstructed area.
jlhawn
I am using all Noctua fans on my C70, I use a standard 120mm for the rear exhaust as there seems to be very little restrictions from the grill, on the front however I have 2 of Noctuas version of SP fans mounted behind the front cover pulling air through the filter with the top hdd cage removed, they work lots better than a HF fan even though I have been told that a SP fan does not function as a SP fan when it is pulling but only when pushing they function as intended, but they seem too function fine in my setup as I tried HF fans and they could not pull worth a darn through the front grill and filter. Thanks for the feedback. I found that the SP/HF cables were too short to run from the front of the C70 case to my motherboard. Same problem with the Noctuas? peanutz94
Chances are you'll run into that with most fans. With a case that big extensions are almost a necessity.

Same problem with the Noctuas? yeah that's true, my Noctuas come with extensions, I had 2 Corsair SP 120mm at first and they would just reach 2 fan headers on my ASUS Sabertooth board. anyway Newegg has nice fan extensions for a couple bucks.
