Vengance 1500 - Drivers 2.0.16

hi there

I have the corsair vengeance 1500 headset and the volume is way too loud. Anything above 1%

I've tried reinstalling the drivers (latest from the website, 2.0.7) and I've disabled my onboard sound, tried all different USB ports on my computer and I just can't figure out what the problem is :(

Internet, YouTube, VCL, all i have to play around 1 - 5% of 100

If you are using Windows 8.1, unfortunately, the drivers are not currently compatible with it which means you can only use 2.0 Stereo.

If you are using a OS that is not 8.1 e.g. Windows 7/8. Right click the speaker icon located in the notification try and click playback devices, select the V1500 headset and click configuration. Is 2.0 or 5.1 or 7.1 highlighted? if it is then the headset is currently in that selected playback.

If you are referring to the the software not changing "Now playing", don't worry about it.

Re: 7.1. I answered in your other thread.

For the drivers (2.0.7), I've seen some users complain about the volume being too high on low volume. Does 2.0.16 not fix this?

Have you tried the v1.1 drivers?

i have 1.1 and is too loud,

2.0.16 not work 7.1 , Windows 8.1

i thing just need wait to corsair

I had the same problem. I can't find the same thread on how to fix it but I'll try to explain and maybe you can do it too.

Basically: You can use your onboard audio as default, then feed it through to your headset.

I have Realtek HD Audio so I'll be using this as reference.

1. Go to Playback devices, from right clicking the windows volume icon, and set the Realtek speakers as Default Device.

2. Recording Devices. Enable Stereo Mix. In the Stereo Mix Properties enable check-box Listen to this device. And playback should be through the Corsair Headset. (also in recording devices, your Mic or preferred device should be set to Default)

3. Make sure you have something connected to your audio port. For me it works on the green 'front line out' port. It does not have to be headphones, I use a short extension cable and it works.

I think that's all or most of it. It works fine if you leave the headset at 1 - 5 % volume, and adujst the onboard audio levels. Oh but one problem, regarding the mic mute/volume thing on the headset. The + and - control buttons actually control the headset volume. So you should get used to never touching them. I personally have my mouse buttons set to change the volume. It works great.

As a workaround download Razer Synapse and Surround (Hate to plug another company...) and you can run virtual surround until they fix the driver. It works pretty good and is 100% better than stereo.

Delete the corsair driver and software completely, install the synapse and surround and play around with the razer software, took about 5-10 minutes to get going.

This is an old problem with this headset. I've had my headset for over a year and I just learned to live with this but it is kindda crummy that I have to be careful all the time not to bump my volume up from 2%. Lord help me if I accidentally turn on music and someone had put the volume up to 50%, it would cause hearing loss. There is no point in having volume adjustment buttons because if I press minus it will be dead quiet, pressing plus more than once would already make everything too LOUD! What would otherwise be a top notch headset is getting tarnished by this issue.
