skates
Hey there, Just got the case and am wondering if anyone has been able to configure the H110 as a push/pull mounting from the top? It looks to me that the tubes bump up against the rear exhaust fan, so I'm not sure a push/pull will work, unless it is configured from the front? WarDad
My thread in the mod section has pictures of 45mm thick rad and 25mm thick fan in push. It's going to be a tight fit up top. I might have to use a 120mm fan and 140mm adaptor around the motherboard, to clear cables, connector stack, and X79 VRM heat sink. Your H110 is spec'd 29mm thick. So up top the push should be an easy fit. Push - Pull will not fit up there. The front looks good for Push-Pull. Some people mount on set of fans on the external wall, just under the front cover. skates
Thanks for the reply. I'll go With front push/pull. Should the top fans be exhaust or intake?
WarDad
I just heard the H110 hoses are too short to have outlets near front when mounted on top.. Odd, there is no length spec'd anywhere. Some say 10.5", some 12". Does this forum have pictures? Reidlos65
I am in the same boat but I have everything already and noticed a push set of fans up top would block the back exaust fan on the Air 540. Ill take a look tommrow to see how the front would look but I dont have fans for the second set yet. What are the cosair fans used by the H110? I want to get the exact same ones for the push (assuming we confirm its possible)
WarDad
I don't know. You could just pair up the Corsair fans for push-pull on half the rad. Use another king on the other half.
cycilver
Hi just thought I'd chime in. I was in a similar boat recently but just went for it and did push pull with the h110 in the air 540. You're right, it does not fit well if the hoses go to the back because they hit the rear exhaust fan but I have it oriented with the hose going to the front and push pull fits fine. I will be playing with installing the rad in the front with the hose coming from the bottom tomorrow so I'll see how that goes. As for what fans they use, I haven't seen corsair fans that match the stock h110 ones. They look like aair flow fans but with less blades (11 v. 9 I believe). Maybe some OEM hybrid between sp and AF fans.
WarDad
Other people have not been so lucky. Check out this forum post #2888 and a dozen following it. "...I can not install the NZXT kraken x60 on top air 540 in push pull config, because under rad fans hit no cpu connectors and ps2 ports motherboard!..." http://www.overclock.net/t/1404897/corsair-carbide-air-540-owners-club-gallery/2880#post_21029731
malcom499
Hi refresh this post ... you know if you can mount a push pull + h110 on the top of the 540 carbide? The fans are thick 25mm and the radiator 27mm, total 77mm ... Sorry for the bad english
c-attack
This is going to be motherboard dependent. A lot of the newer boards have large VRM heatsinks, additional ATX plugs or something else that will prevent the extra set of fans. It is theoretically possible to mount them on the top exterior, likely at the expense of the top grill. That may or may not be acceptable, depending on viewing angle. However, I can't think of too many reasons why you would need push-pull on a H110. I've been running HW-E CPUs at the upper limits in a 540 for the last couple years and radiator fan speed has never been an issue. I never need more than 1000 rpm when doing actual tasks and even benchmarks show little difference between 1200 and 1600 with a single pair. So unless you are really determined, you can surely have good cooling with a single set.
malcom499
Hello and thanks you for your answer ... For the need to push and pull on h110 you are right, probably not need ... I would just do it for a purely aesthetic question because i have buy corsair HD 140 rgb and me Would like them to be seen at the top of the case. And I do not want to put them in pulls, up that push air into the case. The motherboard is an Asus maximus IX hero ... I'm trying to take measurements, in total 77mm and it seems to get it right but it may bother the CPU / opt cpu attacks ... malcom499
One solution could be these fans? Cryorig XT140 - 140mm are thick 13mm 65CFM but I do not know if it can go well for the 110i racing ... Are the radiator cool enough?
malcom499
I do not think it's going to happen, a question of millimeters ... https://ibb.co/b9coav
c-attack
The problem with the slim style fans is you loose a lot of pressure. Slim fans are generally ineffective for radiator duty, while those super thick 38mm industrial types move more air than a hurricane. Thickness is an asset for this type of application. I understand about the HD140 and lighting. Decoration would be a clear reason to put them on both sides. However, having just used an all HD set up on my 740, I found it all to be too bright and moved the radiator fans above to "pull" as exhaust. That puts the light on the ceiling, instead of in my eyes. No problem with temps and the front 3 and 1 rear 120's still light up the case like Las Vegas. Either way, a single pair of HD140's will provide plenty of air and on a 7700K the core temp land voltage will always limit you before the coolant temperature. c-attack
I do not think it's going to happen, a question of millimeters ... https://ibb.co/b9coav Yeah, pretty nervous about the power plugs in back. It might also be really close on the rear fan. The ML's have a little more girth to their frame, but still when you get them that close you may get some unhelpful interaction between them anyway. malcom499
Thanks for the suggestions, when I get the HD140 fans I will try ... otherwise I will leave everything as it is now .. I will let you know.....
