Neo07
I really liked the build quality and cabling of AX860 but had to RMA it due to coil whine, this was back in January. It would be interesting to know if the guys are Corsair will be replicating the stringent capacitor/coil checks across other product lines. I would love to pickup a 'v2' AX860 with no coil whine
Corsair Employees jonnyguru Posted October 9, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 9, 2013 Yes!!! Moving forward with the RM Series, all Corsair PSUs will have the same silent component selection process put into place in production. Perhaps Corsair should brand "silent component selection process" with a short name. SilentComp? Quieponent? ...I dunno.....

Neo07
Well time has come again to buy a new PSU. I know the RM series specifically eliminates coil whine but I'm itching to give the AX860 another go. Can anyone from Corsair confirm if the manufacturing process for AX860's has changed at any point this year specifically to I eradicate coil whine? Neo07
johnny, this video description seems to have been updated in the last few days and claims there is no issues with their AX860 PSU whining with lot code 1342: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixi-Dhryd7o[/ame] Are you sure the AX860 hasn't had a hardware update? Corsair Employees jonnyguru Posted December 24, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 24, 2013 I'm not sure. That's why I said "not necessarily". The AXi had a "known issue" with the first batch that I know for a fact was fixed immediately. Since the AXi is made by Flextronics and the AX is made by Seasonic, one cannot automatically assume that if one is fixed, the other is also fixed.
