carlito24
I bought these sp120 quiet fans with my h100i last night. Cooling is great but its way too loud. Now the link doesn't do anything, lowers by about 10 rpm maybe that's it, still loud as hell. Changed it so the fans were on mobo instead and its now at a great noise level running at a low rpm, however, does not speed up when playing battlefield. Now I find out I bought the wrong fans (even though my fans were recommended as buying) Now theres a PWM version? If I get these will I be able to get the same quietness I am now but with the link? and also will it rise as the temps do when gaming. Or shall I just get a fan controller? peanutz94
Now I find out I bought the wrong fans (even though my fans were recommended as buying) Now theres a PWM version? Who recommended you get the 3 pin type? But yes there is a 4pin PWM version and those are the ones you need to be controllable with LINK. and also will it rise as the temps do when gaming. Or shall I just get a fan controller? Can you please fill in your system specs in the drop down menu. Without knowing what MB and the rest of your hardware any answer would be a total guess. But your MB should have still been able to change the speed according to load.

peanutz94
As long as they are the 4 pin version LINK can control them. Always check the manufacturers site before trusting a third party recommendation But your MB should be able to control the 3 pin version just fine. I would check your BIOS settings for that fan header.
carlito24
Problem is now my case fans hav nowhere to be plugged in to. I have only done this because the noise is unbearable when plugged in through link. Why do they run so fast on idle?? I didn't rush, not one review mentioned anything about not being able to control the quiet fans. Can corsair not directly replace them for me? The fan controller that is built into the H100i is a PWM controller and you are trying to use voltage controlled fans with a PWM controller. That is why they run fast and are noisy. I didn't rush, not one review mentioned anything about not being able to control the quiet fans. No, one said you rushed, just should have checked here first instead of trusting or not fully understanding that there are different versions of this fan. Can corsair not directly replace them for me? Unfortunately No. The stock fans that came with the unit are indeed a version of the SP120's but without the fancy color rings. They wont RMA your SP120's or replace them because there is nothing wrong with them . You just bought the wrong version. Sorry, you would need to return them to your vendor for return or to swap them for the correct versions. Corsair cant change them because you did not buy them directly from the web store. carlito24
So will I be able to control the pwm fans to what ever rpm I desire? Right now they are great at just under 900 rpm. Will the pwm fans also speed up when needed during gaming?
carlito24
why was this fan released also? who would buy a quiet fan only for it to be insanely loud?
