Canyon707
First off running windows 8 on a intel quad core system with 6 gigs of ram. The problem I am having is this I copied files to the drive from my hard drive and when after moving the Force in my bios to the boot drive I can't get it to boot it starts the windows 8 program with the 4 boxes on the screen and then the screen says Your pc encountered an error and needs to restart. I did this a few times to no avail so I would like to know what I did or doing wrong. I defraged the old drive to get all the files in order etc it was a wd 580 gig drive which is smaller but only had about 90 gigs on it. so there was plenty of room but it just won't start. Do I need to format the drive first? I am at a loss here and would appricate some advice. Chris
Toasted
Does the screen show an error code? If it does, post what it says here.
Canyon707
Your pc encountered an error and needs to restart. it is so fast I can hardly read it. I formatted the disk and then tried to copy again and it seemed to copy ok but after the reboot it did not reconize the drive and said it needed to be formatted to access it. Toasted
Secure erase the drive with Parted magic and install Windows. But before installing Windows disconnect the mechanical HD. If you cannot install Windows because it fails to install or an error occurs, Try a different SATA data cable and motherboard port.
