JohnnyP
Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I1900 Android version 4.1.2 Voyager Air 1 TB with 1.2.7 Menotek micro USB to HDMI MHL adapter I recently upgraded the firmware on my Voyager Air. Before that we really enjoyed sitting in the backyard streaming video to my phone which we then sent to a monitor via the usb to hdmi adapter. Now it will not stay connected for more than a couple minutes if I can get it to connect at all. Last night we realized if we disconnected the usb to hdmi, I could stay connected long enough to download a local copy to the phone and then watch the local copy. I rolled back the Android App (which previously worked) but that didn't have any effect. I have no idea why this would be affected by the usb to hdmi being plugged in but it's a pretty good puzzle for the tech people at Corsair. Yellowbeard
Have you used the reset button and reset the device?
JohnnyP
Have you used the reset button and reset the device? I tried that and it did not help. Is the older firmware available on-line? I'm thinking I should roll back. I upgraded the Android OS recently and I'm pretty sure it worked after that but I can confirm it. I still think it's odd it's only when the usb to hdmi is connected. Sounds more like an Android bug.
Yellowbeard
Try the 1.2.8 firmware we just released.
JohnnyP
Houston, we have a problem! Now when I put the pkg file in the root and power down then back up there is no WiFi from the device. I tried it twice and verified the WiFi is there if there is no pkg in the root.
Yellowbeard
I'm not sure what you are saying. Did the firmware update work or not?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted October 4, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted October 4, 2013 Houston, we have a problem! Now when I put the pkg file in the root and power down then back up there is no WiFi from the device. I tried it twice and verified the WiFi is there if there is no pkg in the root. Make sure the drive is not connected through USB when trying the wi-fi access. If you can't find the .pkg file in the root directory, re-copy and do a safe USB device removal. JohnnyP
I think the Wifi was just being glitchy. I'd put the pkg file in the root, power cycle, and the Wifi would not come up. I'd take it out, power cycle and it would come back. That happened twice. However, The last time the Wifi did not come back even when I had no pkg in the root. Today I took the time to really mess with it because aside from my using it to stream video I use it for work to test software on various systems which are not supposed to be connected to the internet. I normally have it connected through ethernet to the systems I write code on. I disconnected the ethernet and (hard) reset the drive and the Wifi came back. I was able to finally perform the firmware upgrade. I'll test the video streaming later tonight and let you know.
Yellowbeard
The .pkg file should be deleted by the process after the successful firmware update. Did the update work or not?
JohnnyP
Yes the update took. No it didn't solve the problem. I really thought it worked after we upgraded the OS because we were able to watch more video formats. However today I tried using it to watch YouTube over my regular Wifi and it lost the network connection so it seems it's an adapter/OS issue. I could still try the old firmware.
