moisiss
Hey all, As the title states, I just installed a new h100i into a new build and I am getting a pretty loud grinding noise coming out of the cpu block. I replaced the stock fans with corsair sp120's quiet edition. Sometimes it comes on and is very loud and other times it comes on and is fine. Whats up with this?... Do I need to RMA? peanutz94
I would give it a couple of days . It may be air trapped and should work itself out. If not then being such a new unit , you would want to return it to your reseller first. If they won't help you then use the link on the left to request an RMA. moisiss
So here's a video of the pump noise at about a medium level from the range that I have witnessed. It has been quieter at times and louder at times. I will do as you advise and give it a couple of days... hopefully this gets better.
Ahtlon
Do you have the firmware 1.05 on it, this could help getting rid of the noise. Also There could be air bubbles inside, these have to go to the radiator.I have also a H100i, before I had build it in my pc, I started the pump outside of the pc and turned the h100i from one side to the other side every hour, after a few hours the air was gone out of the pump to the radiator and is silent. moisiss
In the corsair link software under device info it says I'm running version 1.0.
Ahtlon
Try too put your case on the side(flat) and let it running for a few hours. Then look of the pump still make some noise. If it does, rma it.
ChettManly
Mine does the same thing. For whatever reason, the pump slows down to ~450rpm, and the slow pump speed causes that ticking sound. When it runs at full speed in the 2k rpm range, the noise will stop. The only way I know to get it to stop is either to sit and wait for the pump/software to decide to finally run at full speed, or to put the computer to sleep and wake it back up, which can cause it to run at full speed again. Sometimes you may have to make it sleep more than once if the pump doesn't run at full speed.

I actually logged on here to say that what you have described is what I suspect is happening... and saw your post. When I start my computer it usually starts up with that awful noise... which I have to sit through until the thing "warms up" (aka: let it sit there for a while then power off and reboot to see if it has gone away yet). I also noticed that when the sound is present my temps are higher than when the thing is silent. A LOT higher in some cases. For instance: Temp without the grinding noise.. Idle: ~25-30 C Full Load w/ Prime95: ~68-72 C about 15 min in. Temp WITH the grinding noise.. Idle: ~30-35 C Full Load w/ Prime95: 90+ C within a few minutes until I terminate the test. Long and short of it... This thing is jacked! Honestly though, I'm glad this happened right away so I won't be stuck with this junk. I should have done a little more homework... it seems problems with these coolers aren't rare. I will be returning this for a refund asap. edit: had my @load temps reversed... the temps are higher across the board with the noise which would make sense if it's a low pump speed noise. You are right... to label the whole line junk is way too strong. I have always had really good experiences with Corsair's products. I'm sure that this is a really nice product when working correctly. I'm just disappointed and frustrated. I apologize.
