k0braka1
Hi guys, just a quick question; should the H100i fans in the corsair link software be grouped to the H100i Temp 1 or the CPU Temp to be most effective? I've been doing a little experimenting and switching it to the CPU Temp in the group menu means the fans pick up speed quicker as the cpu is loaded and heats up. Keeping the default group as H100i Temp means the fans don't really pick up as this temp seems to stay much lower even under heavy load. What do you think? Kamelion
Link them to the H100i Temp 1. The CPU temp will fluctuate wildly as the load changes whereas the coolant temperature ramps up more uniformly.
wytnyt
using the cpu is not as dependable as using the water temp, where it will only ramp up the fans when the water temp tells it to
sinnedone
Actually, a correct setup fan profile using cpu temp will also not cause fans to ramp up unnecessarily. There are tradeoffs by going with either method. If you go with h100i temp the fans will take a little longer to ramp up compared to cpu temp and also stay at a higher rpm after load is off the cpu so it can cool the liquid temp back down. If you go with cpu temp (and set up fan curve correctly) the fans will ramp up faster before the fluid is actually hot, but will also ramp down as soon as load is taken off the cpu leaving the fluid to cool down longer which will increase your idle temps a couple of degrees for a few minutes. In the end it comes down to preference really because either way max cpu temp at max fan speed will be the same. Oh and some people have issues setting fan profiles from the cpu temp sticking after reboot. Setting fan profiles up under h100i doesn't seem to have this problem.
