someonewhy
Hey. I have 3930k overclocked to 4.6ghz using +0,50 offset on cpu-z shows 1.380V maximum but when i am testing with LINX for 5-10 mins i am getting 89C max temp when i am gaming like BF3 i am getting 70C max...how is that even possible?i tried to reseat my h100i for 100 times and no luck at all i am using Corsair 900D case... the h100i is on push/pull setup all fans are connected to the fan controller on max speed. wytnyt
running a 4.6 oc on most processors is really pushing things and expecting a little too much for these coolers, you may want to consider a custom water loop if 4.6 is desired... someonewhy
Before i had an old 3930k and h100i i was getting 76C max i even tried to lower my OC to 4.5ghz using 1.350V i am getting 85C max...something is wrong here
wytnyt
you can test 10 same processors and get 10 different temp readings ,so its hard to base it on such but there isnt many factors at play here.block/tim seating [i know this has been done],,,fans -whats being used? other than these 2 factors it really falls back on the heat source being the cpu..,case fan layout will play a small part but if the above is ruled out,id go with just too much heat being produced what type of test is used to stress things, reason i ask is certain load tests are very harsh and one may never push things that hard in even hard usage... someonewhy
On the fan controller it says fans are running on 2100rpm on max speed...maybe pump is not working properly?how do i check if its working properly or not?
wytnyt
most accurate way is in bios under fan 1 if your bios is such,,or one reading should be ~2200 rpm
someonewhy
i disabled all fans on bios so i will always get max speed

wytnyt
its always fan 1 if hooked to cpu_fan and that shows 2307 so its good...
someonewhy
so rma the h100i?or what i am supposed to do now?
wytnyt
a new one most likely will be the same, they can only cool so much and most likely just too much heat is being produced by the cpu...
someonewhy
This is 900D setup http://oi40.tinypic.com/2akla85.jpg maybe i should change the fans position?will it help?
wytnyt
reversing your top rear fan will help case cooling but not likely will help cpu temps,,just too much oc for that chip 4.3 is more realistic for good temps

Yeah, I have to agree . With that OC and voltage the H90 isn't going to be up to the job. If your wanting a high OC then you want a double RAD. Either the H100 or the H110. You can RMA the cooler if you like. I just don't believe another is going to do any better.
wytnyt
he is using a h100i,not a h90 but even so its still pushing its ability to be very cool
