M90 binding issue

Hello!

I have button 14 set to "forward" which is also button 7 (by default). I checked the settings on both buttons and matched them up completely.

The issue:

I'm using Ventrilo for voice comms ingame. button 7 works as my PTT and I can hold it down and talk all I want. button 14 just blips like a single button push instead of a hold.

Any advice you could share would be great as I'd prefer to use button 14 instead of 7 (easier to push in clutch situations than button 7)

at the moment I only have 1 profile for my mouse. no %'s for anything. just the warning that I'm turning it on and then the buttons I had switched to forward and back are suddenly not doing what they used to. I re-check the profile in the software (1 LED on based on profile manager) and it hasn't switch or anything. I look through the options and they are still the same. just none of the function I had previous. sadly hardware playback is a step back in my progression towards resolution. although I'll gladly take that step if the next ones are forward lol

What I have it set to be: Button Options, Basic Buttons, Forward

in my original setup what it wouldn't do: holding button down wouldn't hold "forward"

No funky macros or keystrokes involved.

I'm a little confused with your wording. Did you get it working by setting 14 up the exact same way 7 is set up? Putting it specifically as Forward?

If it was sort of working before, even though it didn't hold, Hardware Playback should make a difference.

From what I understand you can't do any macros with mouse functions so I'm assuming setting it up with the >>>> can't work.

Alternatively you can bind your PTT on vent to a keyboard button, one you'd never press in game like [ or ; as they will work in a macro, and see if that fixes it.

I'm looking at getting an M95 myself and how this issue plays out may affect my decision.

In Jazter's screenshot there is a "button options".

What I have it set to be: Button Options, Basic Buttons, Forward

In the left box Button 14 has "Button: Forward" as it's binding. it's not a macro. It is setup exactly like button 7 is. button 7 is the default forward button. For everything that uses the forward option (web browsing, folder browsing) a single click is perfectly fine. I simply want to be able to hold it so I can use it as my PTT for Ventrillo. instead it blips on/off like a single click. So it's registering that it's forward. it's just not holding when I hold it. button 7 does.

Here are instructions to to enable hardware playback.

1. Click Manage Profiles

2. Click the L.E.D. dots

3. In the drop down menu choose your profile and assign it to an L.E.D.

4. Click save to M90 (Do you see a %?)

5. Click Ok

6. Tick hardware playback and use Button 10(Profile Up)/11 (Profile Down) to move the M90's onboard profile (Profile 1/L.E.D. 1 is on the bottom, etc)

Test it and see if it works fine.

If you don't see a %, Make sure M90Hid.exe is running in Task Manager. If its not, go to the install folder and double click it. Then save it to the M90.

In my opinion it would be easier for you if you just pick a key on your keyboard for your PTT, then assign that key to Button 14 as a keystroke. It honestly makes no difference if you do it that way since you said you just want to use it for your PTT. Unless for some reason you want it to have a double function to act as "forward" and PTT, which I don't think is the case.
