versys5
i7 3970x on Asus R4E with Dominator Platinum 2400 C9 4x4Gb Just installed this RAM, set the the bios to Safe Default settings, then set AI overclock to XMP profile 1. (2400mhz, 9-11-11-31 1.65V) Crashes 30sec after windows loads.. Also, SIW utility reports Memory running at 667mhz x 2 (1333mhz) 9-9-9-24 1T primary timings "Wrong memory values reported by bios". Running on Auto settings for speed and DRAM timing, no crashing. How can I get this memory to running at it's factory settings (2400mhz, 9-11-11-31) without crashing the computer, with my system specs? Please help.... :[pouts:
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 27, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 27, 2013 2400 Mhz is an extreme over clock and not every CPU can do that speed. I would check for the latest MB BIOS then go to BIOS setup and load setup defaults and enable XMP then set the memory Frequency manually to DDR1866 and see if its stable by testing with http://www.memtest.org. versys5
Sounds good. I'll giver a try at 1866, with XMP enabled. Bios is the latest. Thanks for the tips. :)
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 27, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 27, 2013 NP if you still have issues please try testing the modules one at a time with just XMP Loaded and memtest to see if one may be failing.
versys5
Finally I got around to running Memtest86+ 4.20 on each of the modules. 3 out of the 4 sticks passed on the first pass, running with just XMP enabled (2400 9-11-11-31-2T). The 1 module that failed yielded 63 errors on the first test. I did a second test, with 2 passes, yielding 233 errors. http://tinypic.com/r/f52azn/5 I'm running my system on 8Gb with XMP enabled, CPU @ 4.0Ghz, ran a memory stress test with Intel Extreme tuning utility; and not problems, or crashing thus far :DDD What should I do with this one module with errors? You advise is greatly appreciated. Thank you...
peanutz94
You will have to RMA the entire set so you recieve matched set in return. Use the link on the left to request an RMA. Once you have this filled out you can call CS and request an advanced replacement so you won't be with out a working PC. I believe you can also ask for an advanced replacement in the RMA form now as well.
versys5
Oh awesome. Thank you! It shows an option for express RMA, pre-auth from and credit card for $400. Is that the same as the advanced replacement?
peanutz94
Yes, it would! You should be good to go then! :)
