badsearcher
Hello, is there any slowdown or incompatibility with USB 3.0 if I plug the USB port cable into my USB 3.0 port? It would be really handy if I could access my 3.0 port from my keyboard because the alternative is either buying an extension cable or crawling to the backside of my desk every time I want to use it. Toasted
I think the USB port on the K90 is 2.0, not USB 3.0.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted August 27, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted August 27, 2013 The passthrough is USB 2.0.
badsearcher
The passthrough isn't forward compatible? I mean, it's not a port, it's just a short wire and mechanically identical port. I'm asking because I'm wondering, what are the technical limitations? I know that 3.0 is backwards compatible.

badsearcher
Just out of curiosity, what exactly is it inside of the wire itself that creates that bandwidth limit?
SlowScoob
USB 3.0 can be described as the following: "The connector has the same physical configuration as its predecessor but with five more pins" according to WIKI, and visually inspecting the USB 3.0 port you can see the extra pins on the "empty" half of the port. USB 3.0 will not pass through the USB 2.0 port on any device. Simply put, it's not possible.
