simentobias
Hello, yesterday i upgraded some of my computers components including: PSU (Corsair CX 600), Motherboard ( GB 990 FXA-UD3 ), CPU ( AMD FX-8320 @3.5GHZ -> 4GHZ Turbo) and Ram ( Corsair Vengeance 2x4 GB kit ) -> CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9. Somehow, the ram doesn't initialize within windows 7 64x. I've tried the msconfig solution without success. It did, though recognize 8 GB of ram yesterday when i first tried my new config, i've enabled 8x multipler for the ram to use 1600 mhz like it's supposed to and after that it wont recognize all 8 GB bu 4GB instead. Anyone has any idea regarding this? Edit: i can confirm that the 1333 -> 1600 has nothing to do with it as ive clocked it down an tried all slots 1+3 and 2+4 no luck.. And i can confirm that the bios detects all 8gb of ram with 800 (1600mhz). Resource monitor somehow recognizes the ram but classifies it as hardware reserved. peanutz94
Do you have the latest BIOS for your board? If not please flash to the latest version. You might also try setting the memory voltage to 1.6v. AMD systems will generally require more voltage than an Intel system to be stable at the same speed. For the time being it would be best to reset your CPU to stock clocks. Never OC the CPU until your memory is stable first!

For the time being it would be best to reset your CPU to stock clocks. Never OC the CPU until your memory is stable first! I flashed my bios yesterday should be the newest the i guess (used the included online updater. bios released in may). Tried some swapping around and running single stick aswell. I find this kind of funny and really weird but: Stick 1 can only go in Slot 3, otherwise there will be no video output. Stick 2 though can go in all Slots. After finding out this i tried running Stick 1 in slot 3 and stick 2 in slot 1, booted up and windows noticed the ram as 8 gb. I rebooted to set the voltage to 1.6, no boot. Reset cmos, boot sat voltage to 1.55 booted suddenly it's back at 4 GB. Aswell for OC' CPU, 3.5ghz is stock speed, and 4.0ghz turbo is stock aswell. peanutz94
I would test the memory then with memtest86+ just to be sure you don't have a failing module. I have mixed feelings about that though. The memory if it were bad wouldn't run in any slot , not just one. Why the one stick will only run in that particular slot is beyond me. Also the voltage issue and memory mid-detection have me a little puzzled too. My gut feeling is that the board is bad, but if you want to try swapping the memory first Corsair will let you. Just use the link on the left to request an RMA. Just keep in mind that if you get another kit that does the same , you'll need to get the board looked at. After updating the BIOS did you remove all your memory ,clearing the CMOS, and try booting with just one stick in the first slot? Sometimes when BIOS issues happen along going through this step often flushes out any stuck settings that may have been left behind before the update. If it boots fine replace the second and reboot. That is one other last thing to try before swapping out either MB or memory.
ram1220
I would do as Peanutz suggested by testing memory. I work on computers and remember an AMD system that was brought to me with the same problems. I pulled my hair out trying to figure it out. Then I removed the CPU and found that the owner had bent a few pins on the CPU when he assembled his system. I straightened the pins and reseated the CPU. System worked fine after that. The memory controller is on the CPU so it made sense. If the memory is fine and you have not bent any of the CPU pins then you might just have a bad motherboard. Hornetville
settings in Bios are as stated on your page for the RAM 9-9-9-24 and 1.5v everything else is Auto.
peanutz94
Hi Sorry to hijack thread but as it's the same type of ram But it's a completely different system. With that said , please make sure you have the latest BIOS for your MB. Then look for a setting called XMP and enable it. If this doesn't work then could you please start your own thread and we can go from there.
