Angel Rat
Hello, I just purchased one of these units (H100i) for my LGA2011 build. I was wondering how do I know which revision I just purchased from Microcenter? Is it marked somewhere on the box or the unit itself...? I also just bought 16Gb of the Vengence pro 2133 and have been looking at the AXi series power supplies. I am getting should I say kind of weary after reading the forums... I am waiting on my motherboard to arrive but I dumped about $600 usd into a CPU that I do not want to have any issues with. I really hope I got the latest version without the noisy fans but there needs to be some way I can tell. I also really liked the idea of as many matching components in my build as I can, but I am really starting to shy away from the AX860i psu I've had my eye on which in turn is making me a bit nervous about this memory I just purchased. I haven't been able to power any of this up as my motherboard should arrive in the next day or so. am I taking a gamble? I really do not like the "Made in China" branding I've seen on the box... heck anywhere but there would be better. Is all this firmware for the various components out of the Beta stage yet? most of this stuff has been out over a year (at the verge of being old in computer and moores law terms) should I just return all the Corsair stuff I bought and go with another company? I would pay a premium to see made in USA or any other Eastern European nation as quality control is something these nations actually care about. Angel Rat
so we get Chinese manufactured junk in which the issues never get solved on a hardware level... but Corsair hopes to correct it with software hot fixes? I a just going to take all this stuff back to Microcenter... thanks for the input fellas, I've read enough. Time to pick out and research new products before I put my money down again. this is not a happy build, not like it used to be...

peanutz94
Better take your MB, CPU and anything else in your box back. Everything in there is foreign made! I guess, I'm at a loss. Your not even going to try any of it based on what you have read on a support forum? No one ever posts to say things are working as should be, all your going to see here are issues. They sell tens of thousands of these coolers monthly and upwards of 150,000 PSU's a month so take that in to consideration when you base your opinion on forum posts. Not sure about the memory either...They have only been out a short while and there have only been maybe two posts here at the most ./shrugs

peanutz94
Don't get me wrong, being a die hard union guy I have always backed US companies and bought "made in the USA " merchandise. But anymore it's almost not possible. Even our "American cars" are assembled with mostly foreign parts. And that includes the steel we send over to them to make parts just so they can ship it back and be purchased by us again. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to start an argument or anything, I just think it's silly. If they(the OP or anyone else) wanted to take it back , that's their choice. But to complain about products you never used is just baffling????
wytnyt
I have always backed US companies and bought "made in the USA " merchandise. even "made in the USA " can be misleading,,,for example a chinese company can be established in the usa, build an item and market it as "made in the USA " the only true way to know we made something is when it says "made BY the USA ",,,which is rare. in order for a product to be considered "made in the USA ",,only 69% of said item needs be be american, one example are autos having foregn drive train but still "made in the USA "
Angel Rat
the H100i is an extremely simple product, it can be assembled by, or better yet manufactured by cavemen living on a remote island somewhere we haven't discovered yet... and still be better than the human rights violating and environmental polluters of mainland China. my beef is not particularly with the country of origin, it is with the "quality of the products" which is directly related to the country of origin. I know I couldn't find much more than memory manufactured in the USA... but thats not the point. Japan, Korea and even Taiwan have always made better components. I am quite sure my mobo is made in Taiwan and I do not have a problem with that, I have quite a few generations (3) to be exact Asus boards one dating back before LGA775 and it is still functioning flawlessly. again... the problem is what Ive read on these forums. There's no hiding from consumer reviews and gripes on the internet... Unless I am overwhelmingly convinced otherwise all this stuff is going back when I pick up my mobo from BestBuy... I had it shipped to store for obvious reasons avoiding RMA if there is any issue, same reason I got the Corsair products at MicroCenter.
Angel Rat
so still the questions remain... 1. how do I know which revision I bought and if it was shipped with different pwm fans? 2. is any of the firmware out of Beta stage? I'm not a union guy... I am a republican! I work for my money and I am not a kid whose mommy buys me stuff at the store. All I want is quality and could care less if quality came from China. If we are getting bunk stuff, of course it is going to be blamed on the country of origin.
peanutz94
1. how do I know which revision I bought and if it was shipped with different pwm fans? Everything that has been shipped in the last few months would all be the new revision. They should ship with a FW of1.0.5 or later. As far as the fans , thats easy. The outdated units had 3 pin fans. If your are 4 pin then that would be the newer model. Originally posted by Angel Rat: I know I couldn't find much more than memory manufactured in the USA... but thats not the point. Quote from Micron Site: Recently, Micron finalized an agreement to acquire Rexchip Electronics—helping to make Micron the second-largest employer in Taiwan and the second-largest memory company in the world. http://www.micron.com/about/about-the-rexchip-acquisition?source=mb They may be American based, but even Micron uses or manufacturers their chips off shore. No different than the other couple that are based here in the US. I would be awsome to be able to buy a true "made in USA" PC...but ATM it's impossible. Angel Rat
thanks for the info peanutz94. I still don't have my mobo in so I don't know which revision I got, I don't see it printed anywhere and I don't think a cd came in the box? I'll have to check that when I get home. But they are the 4 pin fans. Taiwan is a world away form mainland China... they have the discipline of the Japanese and have been imprinted somehow with their same values on quality control when Japanese companies sent workers and regulators to their factories after they built them there and employed the locals. China and Japan still to this day do not have any relationship to speak of, and in fact Taiwanese consider themselves Japanese. Kingston makes memory in the USA you can do a factory tour in person or online... I believe also Crucial also makes memory in Idaho. Lenovo is beginning to manufacture in North Carolina. by 2015 the cost of manufacturing in China will be the same as in USA... some companies are finally getting the message! Angel Rat
still waiting on the new motherboard... in the meantime I set the H100i next to an old Asus P5AD2-E Premium and hooked it into the power supply and the usb header on the mobo. I am quite surprised for all the hissy fit I been throwing :D it's not mated to the CPU but it has been sitting there running about 6-1/2 hours now. It is virtually silent... I can't hear any weird noises from the pump, in fact I can't tell it is even running unless I put my hand on it. The fans are nice and silent... there is a very slight noise when I put my ear next to them but not audible soon as I move my head away a foot. so did I just get lucky because of all the bad vibe I been giving off? or is it just a matter of time until it starts pump roar/click? only time will tell... I still think I am going to go with the G.Skilll tridentX because of the CL9. Other than that I'll start researching the PSU units again if this thing holds up before the 30 day time is up at microcenter. The 550w is enough to run what I need for now but I may look into the TX series since I don't think I need to split rails or have link software on my PSU.
