UserSomething
So I bought this headset and i heard hissing, I bought it thinking it would outperform other headsets, and yes it did , it is sweet , i love corsair but! there is hissing all the time. if the mic is touched it makes noise and it always shows now playing 2.0 stereo. now I am not one to give up. firstly the now playing 2.0 stereo thing not sure why but it is even there when 7.1 is playing tests, not sure if this is because its virtual 7.1 or what. but when i push the power button on the app it changes it to 7.1 and it makes things sound insanely awesome. the mic thing when you touch it it makes noise not sure about that thing, when i put up the mic it doesnt make noise i can blow on it it makes noise but it does not make noise when i speak to it. even at 0 volume it makes noise, kind of annoying. but i dont breathe into the mic so i dont really care. I have noticed crackling when i leave far away as 4 meters and then it stops working, and return there is crackling i turn it off and turn it back on and its gone, this doesnt bother me alot. it is lazy of me not to take them off but it does suck cause i dont want to take them off or turn em on and off, this one i can live without or with who cares, just throwing it out there. For the hissing i went on the control panel of corsair equalizer lowered 8K to -13 dB and lowered 16k to - 16 bB and the rest are on 0 and moving them makes no difference 4k makes small difference when others are not lowered, but lowering 8k to -13 dB and 16K to - 16 dB makes the hissing almost completly dissapear. This is my main problem the hissing deminishes at 8k -13 bd 16k - 16dB where my friends cannot hear the hissing i can hear it minimally that so it does no harm. but this is not a true fix, someone help me understand why is it that this happens, and this might help others out there. I do warn, I am not giving up on corsair as i really love the company.
Toasted
Make sure the Default format for the headset and microphone is on 16 Bit, 44100Hz. Right click the speaker icon in the notifications tray>Playback devices>Properties>Advanced. Click the "Recording" tab to change the mic setting. UserSomething
was already on default formats both of them, the other formats dont change the buzz, changed and restarted windows to check each nothing happened same exact thing. in recording tab for mic settings there is nothing to change, listen to device was off and default format is on, tried and rebooted for others same thing. tried other features there and updated the drivers still same problem. Toasted
If possible, Try the headset on another computer. Do you still experience any mic problems on the other computer?
UserSomething
Same thing on 2 other desktops intel (3 ghz) with sound card and amd (4.2 ghz) with onboard and 1 laptop (2.3 ghz). all have 4+ gigs of ram. I can ask more friends to test it with their systems but this seems proof enough already. The noise continue to be there.
Toasted
It might be a faulty mic. Contact your seller and ask if they can replace it for you. If not, request an RMA to replace it.

M4KER
I heard crazy stories about a bad ground. Is the wall outlet your computer is plugged into grounded? ie: does it have a third prong on the outlet?
