Windows 8.1 temporary workaround

We were given a rough timeframe of 4 to 6 weeks for the software to be released. We are beyond that now. At the least, an update should be made to all of their customers as it would be the morally right thing to do. Corsair has really let me down on this product (so much so that I will not be buying anymore of their cooling solutions ever again). There is too much competition in this industry for them to take a complacent attitude.

so after waiting 3 days now for my support ticket to be answered, asking for a rough estimate of when the software firmware needed will be available. i still had no answer, so i tried their live chat service to try and get an answer for anywhere possible, this was the thoroughly unhelpful answer i got:

so back to square one with no answers from anywhere you can ask. GJ Corsair GJ.

corsair doesnt/cant give an exact time on releases as testing is impossible to set a time frame on,,while this is understandable i know it doesnt help those that need it...

Testing is "impossible to set a time frame on". I have 20 years in the software verification field in cellular switch hardware which I guarantee you is a exponential increase in complexity over Corsair Link SW and if I told my boss that I couldn't give him a schedule because "testing is impossible to set a time frame on" I would be fired.

And I have to add another point to that. Our two largest customers, Sprint and Verizon, would have no problem telling us what they thought of us if we gave them that answer. That is the reason I am not cutting Corsair any slack at all on this. As a professional SW project manager, this is completely ridiculous and someone's head should roll at Corsair for this level of incompetence.

Don't let him get to you man. Just ignore him and move on, it's what I've had to resort to do to deal with him. The majority of his posts are defending Corsair, whether he's been involved in the thread or not. He's either a huge troll that finds his satisfaction in life hanging out in a computer hardware forum and being an outstanding citizen by protecting the godly name of Corsair, or he's getting paid by them directly to do so. Over three and a half thousand posts in a support forum... hmmm

He's not a troll, and just because he likes helping people doesn't make him a shill. Hell, I've been here 10x as long (BEFORE it was the Corsair forum or had any connection to them), 10x as many posts, and I still like helping people (granted work gets in the way more than it has in the past). Some people just have it in their nature, some don't. He's not trolling, he's just explaining his point of view / what he's read on the forum. He has as just as much of a right to post his opinion, just like you do. You want to bitch and moan? Go for it. You have the right, and it's perfectly understandable given the circumstances. He wants to tell people to have patience / faith, he can do that as well.

I'll give you an analogy to our situation with Corsair LINK. Bitfenix debuted a preview of their RECON 2 Fan Controller at the 2013 Computex in June. Due to testing and compatibility issues, they still have not brought the RECON 2 to market. Like LINK, it is a marriage between the hardware and software through a USB interface.

im sorry you feel this way about me but i cant and wont tell someone something that just isnt so,i believe that being honest and candid to someone is better than sugar coating and patting their hands and jerking them around and not all relevant information is what some like to hear.

all i do is simply to try to help and if it helps you to belittle me...'

well,thats ok too,no hard feelings

This happened to me when i installed windows 8.1. I also had another issue where my mouse and keyboard were unresponsive when I logged on windows unless I disabled xHCI options in the bios setup (such as xHCI handoff etc). The solution for me was quite simple:

1) Uninstall the AI Suite software.

2) Install the updated intel chipset drivers.

3) Enable xHCI options in the bios setup.

It seems that microsoft included a usb 3.0 UASP driver that conflicts with other software.

I hope this helps someone.

Yes, it's Monday in the USA. It's also 3 AM in California. No one's at work THIS early.

As soon as I find out I'll post it here. I have nothing to do with the software development or release. Personally, I see releasing ANYTHING right around the holidays as a double edged sword. People have tons of time to play with a beta, but this can also create a ton of extra support tickets when it's already extremely busy.

Your ticket has been answered, and you've responded to it. I agree it took a day too long, and that's because somehow it went into the spare parts queue.

Corsair are ****ing ****.
Corsair are dancing gods? .... Sure, i'll go with that.

holy support forums batman!!! a corsair employee answered, shame there's no content to the answer.

Ok so that covers today then? what about the last 3 weeks or more since some at your end bothered to update everyone here?

Your ticket has been answered, and you've responded to it.

My question was not answered though was it?

my question was when the software would be release roughly. seeing as you guys had given a rough estimate before I didn't think asking for a new estimate was to much. Obviously I was wrong.

I have nothing to do with the software development or release.

so why the hell are you posting here about this problem?

Corsair are dancing gods? .... Sure, i'll go with that.

Oh i see your here to try and troll pissed off customers on your employers official forums. Smart

The timeline depends on how the stability and compatibility testing goes and how many bugs are reported in the BETA. We hope to have a Windows 8.1 BETA available in the next 4-6 weeks here on the forum.
He stated that we HOPE it's out in 4-6 weeks, and that it depends on how our internal testing goes. So far it's been 7 weeks (with Thanksgiving thrown in as a monkey wrench). You want to know if it's coming out by Christmas. George has already stated that the timeline depends on how testing goes.

Not trolling. It was either give you a warning for partially violating a handful of rules, or think of a family friendly version of what was bleeped out. I think the family friendly way is the nicer way to do it, and the dancing pirate video's just silly, cuts the tension just a wee bit. But if you don't like it, ok, it's removed. We all have different sense of humors. C'est la vie.

Um... you should try to release the patch ASAP because you've turned Link into crap by getting caught with your pants down and not trying to beat windows. Honestly though... I've done coding and realize it's complexities, as the reason why I went into a different area of IT, but is there a junior level programming putting this all together? The hardware is great but geez get your **** together on the software. Link had such potential but is a dead product now. Thanks for boning your customers.

Update (12/9):

Quick update guys - the first revision of the software we were testing had a major flaw and was unable to be released. We've addressed it and have a new Beta that we're much more comfortable with and we'll have it released as soon as possible.
