maakun2896
I got my weird noise HX650 changed and I got a new one... this time fan doesn't start at all...just about 2 seconds after I power up my pc. I tried playing games and benchmarks at max settings...but nothing! my specs are: cpu: intel i7-860 2.8GHz gpu: amd radeon HD 7870 my old weird noise HX650 was moving fan when playing the same games & benchmarks, but this one does not...this one has some issue too? :[pouts: it stinks a little...but I tought maybe it was because it's new...? or just it got too hot?! Be careful mate, stop stressing your PC like that, immediately. Contact Corsair support and see what they say. I personally don't think that's normal at all. I'd request an RMA if I were you. maakun2896
But maybe it just doesnt require enough watts to start the fan even in full load? Cpu tdp is 95 And gpu is 175 My case is big enough (corsair 300R) and has 2 fans installed...so maybe in-case temp are not that high too :/ Paper clip test can show me if it is working well or not? peanutz94
maakun2896, the new HX series PSU's are fan-less at low loads and temps. It will need about 49c and about 40% load before the fan will start. Or may be any combination of the two . It doesn't necessarily have to be one or the other. It should start and run at full speed for a few seconds at start up and then stop until it is needed. You can test this by running Prime 95 and furmark at the same time and the fan should start running then.

But the psu doesnt seem very hot...I dont know if watt and temp reached the fan start level :/
