Corsair Link service steals window focus (Win8-64bit)

Howdy all,

I haven't seen any threads about this, and I haven't found much via google either, so maybe I'm just special.

About every 10 seconds almost, a process steals window focus.

So I could be typing in a document or scrolling on a website and suddenly the document or browser is no longer selected and I have to alt-tab back to it, or click on the window again. This went on for a while until I just decided every time it happened to hit alt-F4, and that's when I found that whenever I did that it would kill the corsair link background service.

No window actually comes into focus or appears, just my current window loses focus, alt+F4 kills whatever it is, and it never comes back, but it also kills corsair links background process. Restarting the service causes the problem to come back again.

This happens whether I am running the corsairlink app or not.

Any solution for this?

I'm also unable to see my H80i or control its fans in corsairlink, suspect USB driver issues so might try uninstalling the lot and start from scratch maybe that will resolve this issue too?

i think so too, never seen this issue before.

perhaps another demanding process glitched the corsair install.i was doing initial windows updates that glitched my corsair install.

Well I've got it working now. Whenever I installed the most recent version of CorsairLink I would get prompted to install a Corsair USB driver, clicking OK would cause my computer to freeze and need to be rebooted, there were no unknown devices in Device Manager, attaching the H80i to different hubs / ext ports made no difference and windows was happy to add a new HID device each time.

I tried installing an older version of CorsairLink and SUCCESS! I can now see and control the H80i and the fans attached to it! I still can't install that Corsair USB driver, but it seems I don't need it?

Still appears that Sierra2 or another process is stealing window focus, but after closing it with alt+F4 it doesn't seem to come back and I can still control the fan speeds without it stealing focus again. So might be a solution there.

Weird that I'm the only person who had this issue though!

i should have mentioned installing Version 2.3.4816 as it appears to be more stable .good to see your getting it going.

Unfortunately 2.3.4816 doesn't work for me. I'm using 2.1.1 at the moment and will progressively install newer versions until I get a balance between features and the software actually being functional. With 2.1.1 I can now see the Corsair devices (H80i and two attached fans) and control them.

I'm suspecting some kind of conflict between USB drivers, and the Corsair devices not liking multiple USB buses from what I've read.

This is somewhat unrelated to the process stealing focus though, will keep testing though to see if this older version keeps its mitts off my window focus :p: I also set Sierra2 to Windows 7 compatibility mode, which might also have assisted.
