DaveBC
I have had a GS600 V2 for about 2 months now and yesterday it started making a horrible rattling noise. Here is a video that someone else has uploaded demonstrating the exact same noise I am getting: Is this normal? Is there a way to stop it from making the noise? Thanks. EDIT: I have looked into it a bit more. It seems I can sometimes cause the noise on demand. This video shows me scrolling down a webpage, which I assume causes more power draw and hence the noise:
peanutz94
Sorry to hear your having some issues. But there is no way to fix that yourself other than to have it replaced. Please use the link on the left to request an RMA and if you need an advanced replacement so you can continue to use your rig, you would need to call CS and ask them about that. That can only be arranged over the phone.
DaveBC
I have had a replacement and it makes exactly the same noise. I would like a refund. Do I go about this through the retailer I bought it from or Corsair?
peanutz94
You would need to go through your retailer if thats what you choose to do. I would call CS with your previous RMA number and let them know the replacement is having issues too. They will send you another PSU and pick up all shipping charges for you too. They would also be able to give you an advanced replacement if you ask them. But it's your call.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted July 22, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted July 22, 2013 First thing that is not normal, and can you do the Video again where we can see the fan in the PSU?
DaveBC
First thing that is not normal, and can you do the Video again where we can see the fan in the PSU? I have gone ahead and arranged for a refund with the retailer. Why do you need another video? It is exactly the same. I do not believe it has anything to do with the fan since it does not feel hot enough for it to become active. I have a feeling that it is some other component inside that it causing the noise. The box even claims it is silent at low power draws! I got a refund and bought a different brand and it is silent as they claim.
savage1987
Same issue here. I just built a PC for my dad which was meant to be as quiet at possible, and this rattly PSU can be heard from outside a Nanoxia Deep Silence 4 even with all its soundproofing. Unacceptable to me and I expected more from Corsair! Is there a fix out by now or replacement only? I can only imagine most if not all of this model suffer from this problem so you'd hope there's a fix.. GS600 Rattled from day 1 Fan is loud as hell when it comes on. I've never had another Corsair PSU this noisy, even my whiny AX1200 is less intrusive!
savage1987
And just now it started making all these random crazy whining sounds at all different frequencies and the fan fired up for no reason (I'm at desktop, browsing forums, zero load on anything)! Went for about a minute then stopped. This PSU is the single biggest let down I've had from Corsair. I'm considering leaving the stable and finding other manufacturers to go with. The past 2 years alone I have had an 8GB XMS3 set with one stick dead on arrival, a CX600 V2 blow up within a month of use, a whiny/whistly AX1200 and now this awful GS600. Not impressed.
