V2000 Annoying Static Noise

Hi,

I bought this headset about a month ago and at the beginning I could hear soft, buzzing white noise sound coming out of the headphones. After changing the equalizer around, I could minimize this noise to an acceptable level. However, after a month the noise kept growing louder and louder. At this point, it is almost unbearable. I have updated my driver and even bought a new computer recently and the problem just seems to be worse and worse. Please advise.

Thanks.

Hi,

Thank you for replying.

It doesn't matter whether the microphone is on or off (I have the mic folded up most of the time) the noise is still there. Neither does 44.1 or 48 kHz format. Plugging in seems to make the problem worse, though I'm not sure because at this time the buzzing noise annoys me too much to even make a difference.

The only way that I could minimize the noise was to lower the 2K,4K,8K,16K frequencies in the equalizer. But right now, in order to almost eliminate the noise, I have to turn them all the way down and the sound is just distorted too much if I do so.

Also, I'm not sure if this is related but whenever I listen to something with a lot of bass, instead of a nice, thumping sound, I hear these popping, distorting reverberations that kind of tickle my ears. I am pretty sure that this is not normal and definitely disappointed if this is how the headset handles bass. My 8 years old speakers can make much better bass. This problem seems to be worse when I turned down the above mentioned frequencies.

After looking around the forum it seems like the headset I have is also causing my new computer to lags while streaming videos using Flash, especially on Chrome. I thought this had something to do with my new graphic card because I turned off Windows Aero theme and the problem is fixed. If this is indeed a bug with the headset please let me know how to fix it as not having Aero is a minor inconvenience. Just FYI, I have probably reinstalled the newest driver at least 5 times on my new computer and twice that amount on my old one.

I have had no reports or complaints regarding the issue you're having and Windows Aero. I would recommend bringing your headset to a friend's house to use on their system to see if you can get the headset noise to repeat itself just to verify if it is a headset problem (which we can replace if so).

I was reading this post http://forum.corsair.com/v2/showpost.php?p=598055&postcount=14 and thought this problem was very similar to mine after I installed the driver for this headset. I didn't have a problem with Aero, I just found out that if I disabled Aero, the problem would go away. Thought you guys were aware of some other solutions that I could try.

Anyway I bought a new computer after I got this headset and the problem remains. It is the same on my laptop and I also brought it to work to test out and I'm sure the problem is whether with the headset or the driver because they are the only thing in common on all those computers.

How do I start the procedure to get this replaced?

Thanks for your time.

I had the same problem with 2 headsets of the Corsair Vengeance 2000 type.

I returned the first one to the retailer I bought it from, they sent me a second and the issue continued. They decided to return my money and let me keep the headset, apparently I weren't the only one that had issues with my headset.

I've got an entirely new rig now though, and I haven't tested out the new drivers since the last time I posted about this.

*I bought this headset back in december 2012.

EDIT: I tested the headset out on my new computer, with the new drivers. The issue still remains. Very annoying static sound, especially if sound goes paused for a few seconds or if watching youtube videos.

It's really unbearable while using teamspeak, skype and other programs.

Might be that my headset is defective, or not I have no idea. Unless corsair admits that there are defective headsets, I'm blaming the headset itself.

Tweaking the equalizer, on the 8k channel it can be made worse and better, but turning it all the way down kind of removes certain aspects of the sound.
