Andy Guts
Hi, I've had a H80i for a while and been annoyed that the cooling start with fans at MAX speed when I boot the computer, around the time Windows has loaded they fall back to the normal speed. This is very noicy every time I start the computer, is this normal with the H80i? I have checked the forums for others with the same problem or firmware updates that could solve it but couldn't see anything relevant. My config is; H80i firmware v1.0.4 Corsair Hydro USB v2.0.0 CorsairLink2 v2.3.4816 Asus P8H77-I Windows 8 64bit Thanks for any help!
peanutz94
Yes, that is normal. The fan does it own self test upon start up
Andy Guts
Oh, another problem I have is with the fan settings in LINK2. The preset modes such as Quiet, Balanced and Default all give high fan speeds and it's very inconsistent. When the CPU is idle at ~32C the fans can get any RPM from 1k to 2k and gets quite noicy. I've been using custom curve to get decent low speeds at idle but the settings and results never seem to make sense. When I manage to get the fans to a low speed such as 500 RMP the noice level is OK and the CPU is still cool. What would be good settings for a quiet setup and what values should I expect? I bought this kit because I wanted a quiet setup (while still keeping a ok cooling), I guess a standard air cooling would be better for me then. :(:

Braxos
Carefull where you group the fans of the radiator on the LINK software. Quiet mode Hxxi liquid Temp: 25.7 i7 xx70 temp : 33.8 Now if you group the fans with liquid temp you will have Fan rpm 1-2 : 970-1157 no noticeable noise Now if you group the fans with the i7 xx70 temp you will have Fan rpm 1-2: 1350-1580 you can hear them speaning Stock fan setup with push only no oc idle temp of cpu 31-35 intel stress test 51C. sinnedone
Yes the fans ramping up full blast at boot is normal. While highly annoying Corsair has said this is the way they intend it to work and wont be doing anything about it. (software/firmware can fix this) As far as fans make sure they are grouped to h100i temp rather then cpu temp. If you run them with cpu temp on custom profiles you will have to run corsair link at start up manually for the temp curve to work correctly. (run at start up does not work this way) When you set a custom fan profile on h100i temp its going to be very close temperature wise, ie 30c-650rpm 31c-900rpm 32c-1200rpm 33c-1500rpm 34c-1800rpm and so on and so forth. 500 rpm for the stock fans might be a little low, might want to bump to 650-700. Bryman
i would say 900 is what i found emits almost no noise i would try
