omni_gamer
Hey guys, long time Corsair customer here, but new to the forums. My wife just picked me up a new Vengeance 1500 and I'm having the strangest issue with it. I've used both the drivers as recommended in the forums (the 1.1 and the 2.0.7's) and my experience is as follows: 1.1 Driver: Always a subtle white noise hiss in the background (the same hiss you get when you have the speakers cranked too loud) and when using any application that makes use of the mic there is a high pitched buzzing in the background, that gets twice as loud when you mute the mic using the control module attached to the speaker line). However Sound Volumes are normal and music and games sound very very good. 2.0.7 Driver: After going into the "Playback Devices" --> "Levels" and muting line in and Microphone, the silence is Bliss! No more white noise hum, no more microphone high pitched squeal. but on the flip side everything sounds like ****! I get crackling in almost every test audio case, and you can't turn the volume past 2 (on a scale of 100) or its ear splitting and distorted. Nothing sounds right at all. Is there any way to combine the silence and features of 2.0.7 with the really great sound of 1.1?If someone has any idea I would be very much in your debt. Also I can't register at http://corsair.force.com/ as it just keeps giving me: "Error: System returned error: System.DmlException: Upsert failed. First exception on row 0; first error: INACTIVE_OWNER_OR_USER, operation performed with inactive user: []" Cleared all caches and failing on 3 separate browsers. shankly1985
Why not just click the mute mic on playback device when using driver 1.1? The same as you did on driver 2.0.7. For your other question make sure to set playback sample rate to 44100 on playback and on mic to the one below 44100 think it's 1600
omni_gamer
For some Reason, it doesn't work when I mute it in 1.1. It only gives me the option for Microphone under the "levels" tab for playback devices for 1.1. without being able to mute the line in as well it is just constant static. I did try switching the sample rates, but that doesn't do anything either.
Saybol
I'm almost experiencing the exact same problem OP. I reverted back to 1.1 and am currently enduring the buzzing. Another problem i am having though, is that audio will randomly cut out in the middle of gaming. I can get partial functionality back by reseating the connection but after that the game will not recognize the headset as an output device without a client restart. This is driving me absolutely insane. Keep the thread posted if you figure out a fix for your issue.
Khraftman
I'm having the same problem as the original poster. The 1.1 driver has noise in the signal, particularly when the mic is being used by an application and even more so when the mic is muted. There is a lot of noise in the microphone signal on the 1.1 driver, but it can be partially fixed by the low noise cutoff in the enhancements. The 2.0.7 driver, however, doesn't allow you to add the enhancement, and the mic is also very quiet. In the 2.0.7 driver the background noise can be eliminated by muting the mic loopback and line loopback (You have to mute both). Sound is ridiculously loud at any level above 2/100. StareX
Put your frequency on 48000Hz on Playback in Sound Devices .. 411000 something makes a buzzing sound. 48000 Doesn't. Aka. In properties of the Sound device, USB Headset... of the vengeance 1500 go to advanced.. and make sure you here this: 16Bits , 48000 Hz (DVD Quality) and in mic: Channel 2, 16 Bits, 44100 Hz
Saybol
StareX this does not correct the issue. Messing with the configuration in windows can slightly change or lessen the problem. But its well known that the issue is with the drivers and not with your config settings. It seems like Corsair is shifting from one extreme to the next with their driver releases. I feel like it would have been very hard for them to release software without knowing the problems they had with their devices. Like they pushed drivers that somewhat worked just to get functionality. Corsair, for the love of God, get us a working driver.
Unsaid
Just got my headset with the same issue yesterday... I've got a very sensitive hearing so I basically freaked out. Do you suggest trying the V2000 2.0.7 drivers with V1500 ? all i need is decent sound quality, 5.1 or 7.1 and average-ish microphone quality... is that too much to demand from an expensive headset ? Saybol
no it's not. However, despite the v1500 being quite old, they're still working out some kinks. From my personal experience i would NOT recommend the v2000 driver as it produces deafening volume even at the lowest setting. And the sound quality altogether isnt as good as it is in 1.1. You're in the same boat that i am, waiting for them to release a properly working driver.
Unsaid
Well I've just read a thread dedicated to this problem. Are they even trying to fix this ? Doesn't seem so to me. Could you please link some kind of an official confirmation of it? It's pretty important because i've got to decide relatively soon whether to keep the device and wait, or just quickly exchange it for a headset of another manufacturer. Saybol
That's up to you. But you can contact CS and they will tell you that they are aware of the issue and have their software engineers investigating the problem and trying to correct it. I am confident that they will release a better driver soon.
