unclemiller
My new HX1050 PSU is giving me fits. All the voltages seem to vary randomly and I'm not sure what is normal. I am concerned though about the 3.3V as it dropped to .291V. This is the lowest it has gone but it seems that it's the voltage that fluctuates the most. I have included a pic of my Asus Suite Sensor Recorder software showing this drop. My next step is to re-install my HX850 PSU and see if I get the same results. peanutz94
Try reseating the 24pin connector. Sometimes this will cure those weird fluctuations. But if your system is otherwise stable i wouldn't worry about it much. Software readings are generally incorrect and the only true way to get an accurate reading would be to use a multimeter and get the voltages directly Fromm the PSU. wytnyt
i honestly wouldnt trust Ai-suite regarding any reading as it isnt a very dependable software
unclemiller
I just read in the forums that AI Suite and Corsair Link do not play nice. I have both installed. What is a good software to use? Thanks, Uncle
unclemiller
It's just weird that all this started happening with the PSU install. I am going to disable my Corsair Link and see if things change. Uncle
peanutz94
I can tell you for certain that if your 3.3v rail dipped to .291v , your computer would cease to function. It wouldn't even start at that voltage. Anything below 3.13v would be considered out of spec and your system would suffer from stability issues. unclemiller
I'm sure it's an indicating problem, but the drop was momentarily and not a constant loss. Would I even notice a momentary drop? Would the PC go crazy with just a momentary drop? The AI Suite is polling every 5 seconds. Also my Thermal Radar is showing my motherboard sensor at 0 degrees celsius. I am having random video card issues but that could be anything. Is anybody looking at my included pictures by the way? Just wondering.
Speed
Do not use AI Suite. The voltages that it reports are not to be believed. Get a copy of Open Hardware Monitor: http://openhardwaremonitor.org/ Corsair Link uses one of its components, so there will be no conflict with two monitor programs polling the sensors at the same time. unclemiller
Downloaded and installed openhardware monitor. It's not showing 12V or 5V. Any suggestions? I've included a pic, or at least tried. Seems the program used to upload pics is not working for me right now. I'll try later Uncle
jlhawn
I use too go through this all the time with my AX1200 and the stupid asus software that came with my board, I was so caught up in it I would lose sleep over it by thinking about it all the time which made it take too long for me to go too sleep, therefore I took the advice of peanutz and used a good digital multimeter to check all my voltage readings with system at idle and at full load, results were great, all of my voltages stayed above specs, for instance my 12v is always 12.081v at idle and under load it only drops too 12.025v same with all the other voltage readings. even my bios doesn't show correctly, I even tried hwinfo64 and it was bogus also. so get a meter and test, you can use spare sata, molex, and pci-e power cables to test. unclemiller
Thanks for the info. I do have a good fluke meter at work so I will bring that home and check things out. I believe it has a recording feature so I can monitor the readings and have records of what is going on. What is the best way to check under full load? Will running Prime95 do this? No idea why. I use HWiNFO to set my CPU voltages and haven't encountered a conflict yet. There are 32-bit and 64-bit versions.: http://www.hwinfo.com/

Uncle yes prime95 would do it, but I also fire up one of my hardcore games that uses my 2 gtx 580's in sli as they like lots of power, I just connect my meter and sit it on my desk and watch it as I work over my system. I have also tested while running Folding which mine is set too us both my gpu's and my 6 core cpu.
unclemiller
Everything seems to be rock steady. The fan is starting to get a little louder and it cycles at an annoying rate. I guess I have to live with that. Thanks for all the help. CASE CLOSED
