Dread88
Hi guys, I've been experiencing a strange problem with my H60 for the last few months. The problem occurs usually when I move the PC around to clean or something else, after that (the problem doesn't occur every time) when I switch my PC back on the temps on the CPU (Athlon II x4 620) get really high like 55C idle and over 70 under load (that's when I turn it off) and so far I've always been able to fix it by tilting the case one way or the other (some air gets in the way is my best guess). The problem is that last night the same problem occurred, but I was not able to fix it the usual way, I've been resitting the whole unit about 5 times now and have ran out of ideas. According to all the sensors the pump is running just fine - 4500 - 4600 RPM, I've tried connecting it to all the fan headers I have, and the problem is still there. Also I noticed something very strange similar to what happened to this member - http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=118547 , The tubes are getting quite hot, but the radiator is cold, and I'm sure that there are no leaks or anything of that sort. I guess it's some sort of air trapped somewhere that's preventing the coolant to reach the radiator because when the unit is working normally the radiator gets warm. So I'm asking here if any of you has any idea what can I do to try to fix it, I've read lots of ideas on the internet - running the pc sideways, putting the radiator below the pump, waiting a few hours and then trying again etc. But I tried all of those and still the problem occurs. And yes I'm sure that the unit is seated properly, the TIM is properly placed and all that :) . Also I have this unit for over two years and it was working fine at the beginning. Toasted
Flick the tubes and see if that helps.
wytnyt
another thing you may want to try is boot the computer up,then shut down,do this a few times. my h80 was acting up since sitting in my hutch a few months and it fixed it.bubbles in the water
Dread88
Hey guys thanks for the replies, unfortunately I have tried all of the above and still nothing. I will continue trying various ideas and angles :D tonight and see how it goes.
Dread88
Well no luck so far, and I've tried everything that I can think of. I've even had the radiator + the fan unscrewed from the case so I can move them around while the machine is running, and still couldn't make it work properly.... idle temp in BIOS ~ 48-55. Toasted
You can request an RMA to replace the cooler.
Dread88
Well I was hoping that I can resolve the issue by myself somehow :( because I'm not sure how much it will cost me to send it to them...
wytnyt
are you in the us? its rather cheap to send it back as you need not send it back fast mail you can also request the new unit be sent first to avoid downtime.
Dread88
Nope, eastern Europe, Bulgaria to be precise. From what I've heard it will cost me almost as much as buying a decent air cooler but I will check.
Toasted
The nearest RMA hub for Europe will be the Netherlands.
mtrasi
I found some of these problems like this.. http://forum.corsair.com/v2/showthread.php?p=713563#post713563 I wonder if it's possible that the pump seems to work and the electric motor works, but it lost its link to the pump mechanics, It could be the reason why we see the sensors of the pump motor reading 4000rpm or more but no cooling, even if one tube is very hot (if you put the radiator on the top the hot fluid raise to the top for convection, but then it's not circulating).
