Using 2-wire fans for H80i push-pull setup

I'm new to the forum & built my own PCs for several years. I've decided to convert my latest build to the H80i - my first venture into water cooling!

While waiting for it to arrive, I've been doing my homework. I am currently cooling with a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO with 2-3100 RPM 259-1470-ND Sunon fans (two wire leads) in a push-pull setup. They are connected to a manual fan speed control/card reader I installed in the 2nd optical drive bay of the case. It has its own power connection, & the fan lead connects to this unit - not needing to connect to the CPU fan connection on the motherboard.

I want to use these same 2 fans for the new H80i radiator, but I'm not sure how the Corsair Link 2 software will "like" the way it is wired.

I am currently running the ASUS AI Suite & I've been reading about possible conflicts running The Corsair Link 2 software at the same time.

The 2-wire fans do react to the AI Suite RPM settings, because if I have the manual speed control knob turned too low, AI Suite will over-ride & increase the RPM. I didn't expect that!

Any suggestions as to whether I should uninstall the AI Suite & only use the Corsair Link 2 are appreciated.

I'm not sure why you would want to use AI Suite tbh, there are much better programs than what it contains. You can also install most of the programs contained in AI Suite separately and without having AI Suite installed. I think it is PC Probe that conflicts with Corsair Link 2. The annoying thing is you will get pop up alerts from PC Probe telling you something is wrong all the time, but that's only when CL2 is running at the same time (I think). You can disable the alerts though. Corsair Link 2 is not required to be running at all times, you can set the options to what you want and then close CL2. The cooler will store the settings to memory.

Still waiting for the H80i to arrive. You have a good point about the AI Suite. I forgot to mention that I only have 4 of the features installed - Digi+ Power Control, System Information, Thermal Radar, & USB 3 Boost.

I'm not one to constantly monitor every temp on my motherboard, but I do keep my core temp readings in the system tray.

Thanks again!

hi hi, ai suite is a POS compared to the control of CL2,

and those fans are freaking noisy 45dba?

w/e yes they will work

no, you will have no fan speed control

Yes, those fans are noisy, but I was a telephone tech for many years & the sound of cooling fans doesn't bother me.

I'll let you know if I will still have fan speed control the way it is currently wired. The speed control knobs on the card reader unit currently do work. I guess you are saying that I won't be able to control them via CL2. Not a problem. I only want to turn the radiator fans up when batch converting RAW Canon 7D camera files to JPGs in Adobe Lightroom 4.4, which requires a lot from the CPU.

Thanks!
