dhon
I had purchased a custom built rig that had the CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9 (16GB) RAM sticks and the gigabyte X79-UD3. At some point I performed a BIOS update, and so the CMOS was cleared first. However, with the default settings, it appears the memory timings do not match what is listed on the product tech specs and also within cpu-z SPD timings table. At frequency of 1333Mhz, the RAS Precharge (tRP) is auto set at 11 clocks, and command rate is 1T. According to SPD tab in CPU-Z, tRP should be 9 and command rate is empty for 666Mhz. Similar problem if I use XMP as well. tRP is auto set at 11, and command rate is 1T when it should be 2T according to SPD. What should I do? Do I leave it as it is, or must be manually correct this in the BIOS? These are the full list of settings the BIOS auto sets (at either 1333 or 1600 MHz): http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/5365/fr51size880.jpg
peanutz94
When the BIOS is cleared everything gets set back to defaults to be sure the system will boot properly. Thats the purpose of clearing it after an update. But at any rate it sounds as if your update may be detecting the memory wrong. It's not hing to be concerned about. Just enable the XMP profile and manually change what you need to. Maybe run it through a pass of memtest to be sure it's stable after your adjustments just to be sure. But i wouldn't expect any issues.
