i have a stick of value select 512 DDR400 c3 ram in my computer. i recently tried to reformat my machine and had several problems with formatting the drive and installing winxp. i ran MemTest 86 and it listed several hundred errors with the memory. i tried another stick of 512 DDR400 memory in it and it worked fine. i need a postID to do an RMA, HELP!!

Can you tell me the exact model# of your memory module; along with the CPU speed, and its FSB as well? In addition, please tell me if you have the latest BIOS installed on your system and the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?

Please use this as a reference:

VS512MB400C3

CPU Freq: 133 MHz

Dim Voltage: 2.75 Volts

DRAM Clock: 133 MHz or 166 /1:1/100%

Memory Timings: Optimal

AGP Voltage: Default *unless you have ATI 9200 or 9600 then 1.6 Volts suggested!*

All other settings should be set to default settings!

Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let’s make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!
