shaun.myles
I purchased a vengeance 1500 about a month ago and everything has been working fine until yesterday. I use mumble as a chat client and the volume comes through perfectly fine; yesterday was the same. I could here everyone fine and the volume was more than loud enough (i actually had mumble output on 2%!). I left the room for 5 minutes, came back and the sound coming through the headphones is very very quiet, i have turned the mumble output up to 200% and it still sounds like whispering. I have checked all Windows audio settings and they are all fine, also everything was working fine until i left the room for those 5 minutes. I have also tried listening to YouTube videos through the headset - the music or noise from any game footage on the video is very distorted and when someone speaks on the video it is again extremely quiet. Any suggestions?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 3, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 3, 2013 Have you tried a different USB port to see if anything changes? Also, check your DPC latency and if possible a different machine as well to ensure its not system related.
shaun.myles
I have tried 2 other USB ports, both with the same problem. I have just tried uninstalling and re-installing drivers, switching from Corsair drivers to Windows universal drivers, switching between sample rates and re-installing all motherboard related drivers; all having no effect. The noise distortion is a lot worse than i originally thought, i just tried watching a video and it was un-bearable. I ran a DPC latency check and it was well under 500 microseconds, averaging at 120. Could this be a hardware problem; is it worth an RMA?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 4, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 4, 2013 Did you test it on a second machine? If it still happens, we can exchange it for you/
shaun.myles
sorry about the late reply. I have tried it on a second computer and it was relatively the same; distorted output. I have contacted eBuyer and they are handling the RMA, but is this going to happen again with the new pair? I've only had them for just about 3 weeks. shaun.myles
Just an FYI post, i have received the replacement headset from eBuyer and it works fine. Looks like it was definitely a hardware issue :)
