rea1high
I have a couple of corsair 200mm fans (SKU# CC650D-200MM), one of which is attached to the corsair link. The rpm specs of the fan is supposed to be 1000rpm, however, corsair link is saying the maximum rpm is 850rpm. is the fan faulty?

rea1high
what does "not fully control" mean? I understand can control, can't control, but not fully control edit - ok, set it to max rpm and it span up to 890 rpm plugged in an identical 200mm fan and C link reports maximum rpm at 950. it spins up to 932 rpm. double edit - max rpm on second fan now reported at 932 rpm, which is its maximum achievable rpm
wytnyt
i assume you just answered your last question regarding ''fully'' controllable;):
rea1high
unfortunately no, not really. what this suggests is that the fans won't reach the claimed speed. and it's just occurred to me the when connected directly to the mobo power fan header it spins at the same speed
wytnyt
how far below the specified rpm does it go to?
rea1high
over 10% less than max claimed. for an already slow spinning fan that's quite a bit
wytnyt
yeah but most fans have a - + 10% rpm tolerance ,also any restriction such as hard drives will affect the rpm also.
rea1high
well, there's no restrictions as it's on the side panel and it's outside the unmentioned 10% tolerance, not by much I grant you, but there it is. I just span up my sp120l's, and what do you know, they don't spin up as high as the claimed rpm's either.
Bryman
maybe you can plug the fans somewhere on the motherboard to check? but a ±10% difference is normal for fans like mine says 2700 but they only go to about 2500-2550
