Old_Guy
Okay have had nothing but problems with annoying fan noise on the h100i. But for fun today disabled XMP for my Dominator Platinums from 1866 to 1600. Then overclocked intel cpu from 3.7 Ghz to 4.7Ghz.... Well my temps are showing lower than when at 3.7 and the annoying fan rattle goes away on the h100i and everything is wonderful. But if I go back and enable XMP, lower overclock to 3.7 the noise from fans is back and have higher temps. Also in device manager shows PCI Simple Communications not detected. Newt182
Maybe it's just the noise is present when the fans are at a certain RPM?
Old_Guy
Yes fans did make a certain noise at different RPM,s. Replacement fans, original stock fans, firmware updates nothing helped until I installed a competitors fan. Noise, Temps all work to my liking now, its like night and day. Bryman
you can manually change the rpm and that should fix the problem
Old_Guy
Sorry to say that changing RPM,s on these corsair fans was pointless. It took purchasing a highly regarded competitors fans to fix the problem. And my wallet is sorry i had to resort to this route, but my ears love it. wytnyt
What kind of noise were the Corsair fans making? i was also curious regarding this also,i run 8 stock h100 fans in one build,7 in another and they can be dead quiet but monsters when needed,,and i just dont think one can get this power from a lesser fan

No temps went down by 2 degrees at idle, have not tested at load yet. But even if i had to sacrifice a couple of degrees here or there its the noise that for me was a problem. wytnyt
idle temps arent so critical as is load temps,no offense intended of course but id load a load test and use that comparison but as earlier stated, things will be cool using a lower SP fan. im curious tho,the noise you mentioned, was this a normal spin noise or something a fan shouldnt make as my stock fans are dead quiet and i too hate noise. Old_Guy
Yes, sounds like he just tried the 3-pin fans and not the PWM fans. No tried both the stock and replacement 4 pin. The 4pin replacements were actually worse in my case.

Load temps are 2 to 4 degrees celcius lower on load test now. These competitor fans are kicking butt.
