chris_h
hello its all installed and im having trouble hooking up the fans, they are plugged in but not where i think they should go, the plug on this cooler is made for a 3 pin socket but the CPU fan has a 4 pin socket that wont work with the plug for the cooler (as shown in the attached photo) i was lucky to have this Y adapter (2nd attached photo)that came with the new fan, i keep getting a warning message that the cpu fan has slowed or stopped. any ideas on fixing this? chris_h
try it again with imageshack. http://imageshack.us/a/img585/1158/captureeyv.png http://imageshack.us/a/img825/6673/capture3ng.png right after i made the first post i did plug it into the cpu plug using only the 3 pins, hoping for the best and had my eye on the temp for a fast shutdown, took this pic just a few min ago. thinking about getting a fan controller from tigerdirect to keep the fan speeds at 100% http://imageshack.us/a/img62/7273/capture2xd.png
chris_h
any thoughts or ideas are most welcome, if a close up pic is needed on where i plugged the cooler in i can get that posted. CPU is mostly idle at 2% load, i can feel the back side of the cpu motherboard and theres no heat so a good sign on that. http://imageshack.us/a/img442/6945/cpu1y.png but this cant be right at all, memery temp is at -198 deg (censer malfunction) http://imageshack.us/a/img195/5623/memtemp.png

peanutz94
the plug on this cooler is made for a 3 pin socket but the CPU fan has a 4 pin socket that wont work with the plug for the cooler (as shown in the attached photo) The 3 pin connector will fit on a four pin fan header. They are keyed and one pin wil not be used. Please use that and your CPU error will go away. took this pic just a few min ago. thinking about getting a fan controller from tigerdirect to keep the fan speeds at 100% That would not be fan speed, but pump speed. You should have the ability to adjust that header to run at full speed. It should be by default anyway. but this cant be right at all, memery temp is at -198 deg (censer malfunction) [/quote Sorry, you would need to get a hold of intel for that one. CPU is mostly idle at 2% load, i can feel the back side of the cpu motherboard and theres no heat so a good sign on that. What are your load temps? chris_h
that did stop the CPU errors by plugging it into the cpu fan socket so it must be pluged in right, anyway i got this cooler to replace the stock fan/heat sink thinking it would do a better job but both coolor and stock fan had the same temps, http://imageshack.us/a/img825/4188/capturesfj.png here's the PC im putting it in. http://imageshack.us/a/img689/7185/newpci.png
