600T / usb3.0 front panel transfer speeds

Having speed issues copying a large file(6 gig) from ssd to a Patriot 3.0 flash drive(extFAT formatted)

 

using 600T front panel usb 3.0 slot

~35 MB/second

 

plugged flash drive directly into the rear motherboard(same slot as where front panel usb cable was plugged into)

~55 MB/second

 

And just to make sure scenario 1 is hooked up correctly, I unplugged the case's usb cable while the flash drive was plugged in and it definitely disconnects it.

 

Is this a known issue? Anything I can do?
