HX1050 Issue - Buzzing and Crackling

Hey Team Corsair,

I have a two month old HX1050 which is experiencing some odd issues.

The first is a strange electrical 'crackling' noise that occurs after I start the computer - but only when the system begins to load Windows. It doesn't happen if I start the computer and enter the BIOS, for example, and only presents when Windows begins to load. The sound goes away about 30s after starting, and has never returned while the system is on.

Some troubleshooting has uncovered the following:

- occurs on cold boots and restarts

- occurs with nothing plugged into any USB ports

- occurs when no monitors are connected

- occurs with 1, 2 and an alternate GPU installed

- occurs with all onboard devices disabled in BIOS (sound, PS2, eSATA, network, etc)

- occurs with various CPU features disabled (C1E, C3/6/7, Speedstep, etc)

- does NOT occur when I use an alternate PSU (Antec HCP-1000)

- occurs when plugged into a UPS

I have checked for a faulty ground, and my wiring is good. I have also swapped the cable without success, and am currently using the OEM cable. Finally, I have removed and reseated every cable to ensure proper connectivity.

The second issue is an extremely loud, high-pitched buzzing sound that emanates from the PSU whenever I move the mouse. I have 100% ascertained this is coming from the PSU, and is NOT coming from an audio device. As above, I have tried numerous fixes, without success. I have also tried using different USB ports, including USB3 ports, again without success.

The mouse in question is a Corsair M95, that is currently connected to the pass-through port of a Corsair K70 keyboard. This issue occurs when using several different mice, including several plain-jane non-gaming mice without enhanced DPI settings or increased polling rates.

If there is a suggestion as to how to fix these issues, I would greatly appreciate it!

Cheers

HMS, i'm sorry , but you would need to call customer service to set up an advanced RMA for credit card security reasons. If you are outside the US or overseas, you can use SKYPE to make the call to the toll free number for nothing. Just keep the time difference in mind.

@

Tnx peanutz94 ,

I think I'll vote with my wallet then for now on other brands. I think I'm too lazy to install skype again as i uninstalled it ages ago. Gonna do the rma thru seller, might take few tries to get a working one then sell it and get proper psu.

I'm really sorry to hear that. Unfortunately failures happen with every PSU manufacturer out there. You should at least give them a chance to make it right. If your unit is less than 30 days old you can have shipping charges taken care of too. They would have you a new PSU in just a couple of days.
