did you guys not test this case with these cards?

i can not get the thumb screws in. screw driver wont fit and the tool you provided isnt big enough. Cards are too tall.

just a big rant for a near perfect case. im sure it wont be in issue when the 800 series comes out when i upgrade.

there is a sound card inbetween the cards that is secured with a thumbscrew. the cards are really tall compared to other video cards. thest cards are about an inch taller then other cards.

there is nothing wrong with the screws or holes you just cant get one started because the cards are so massive.

im going to go to the hardware store to see if i can get a small phillips from one of those interchangeable screw drivers and see if that helps.

Geez, you expect them to test every anomalous card out there?!? Seriously? You nailed it, the cards are too tall. Not exactly someone else's fault.

they made the case for the massive radiators they should of tested it with the biggest of the graphics cards.

This case is large and meant for large things. including largest graphics cards.

just shocked that they didn't test this in development is all.

small rant for a awesome case.

I know I would be disappointed too.

It isn't the cases fault. I would have liked to have seen better physical access to the card retention mechanism but they chose aesthetics over access of the card retention screws.

The video card does not meet the physical requirements of the PCI Express specification which is the same physical specification as PCI cards. It is hard to blame corsair on this one. Here is the spec in case you are interested.

Anything over a height of 160.7mm does not meet the specification and probably can't earn the PCI-Express logo. Also anything over 312MM in length is out of spec as well. There are a few cards that are too long too, which has also caused problems in cases that meet the specification.

Since this is an Enthusiast grade tower, yes i can find fault regardless of spec

Enthusiast grade cases should fit enthusiast grade components without any issue.

just my 2 cents

yes but when components veer away from a set of standards how can another product build to suit?

nothing can fit everything all the time, thats when the fun art of modding comes into play.

Not the cases fault at all. That is the 1 graphics card that wide on the market. Well that and now the 780 classified. I'd cut a small notch out of the edge of the case so the screw driver slides straight to the screw. But that's me. Corsair might not like me telling you to cut your case tho. Or evga step up to 780s Lol.

I agree with milkcoma. There should be no thumbscrews or any type of screw. The rest of the case is tool-less, why not the PCI slots? It's a $350 case. Why did Corsair go cheap with it? The HDD trays are flimsy too. Why couldn't Corsair include their SP120 High Performance Edition fans instead of the cheap fans that come with the case? Why are you others trying to defend Corsair? Are you employees of the company? The case surely has design flaws. For $350 per case, Corsair should return to the design table.

Thumb-screws are "tool-less". I've used a lot of "tool-less" card retention systems, and I prefer thumb-screws. The included tool is optional. Perhaps, the one suggestion I'd have is the screw-driver tip should be in the other end. This would allow its use with the tallest card that could fit in the case.

You mention that is a $350 dollar case repeatedly. I find that a reasonable prince for the extremely specialized model. I’m sure that Corsair did a lot of analysis of the balance between features and price. Every increase in the price could potential reduce the number of units sold, and this would result in increasing the unit cost.

Why are you others trying to defend Corsair? Are you employees of the company?

No. Many of us are customers of Corsair. They provide products and service that many of us feel is a good value, so we pay for them. If you disagree, simply spend your money elsewhere.

Why are you others trying to defend Corsair?

Who is attacking them? The root question is whether Corsair was negligent is not supporting a non-standard graphics card, which may not have even existed when the case design was finalized. I can understand milkcoma frustration with something not fitting, but that is the risk of using non-standard components. (milkcoma, have you tried using a removable screw driver bit?)

It is a good point and I am sorry to say we cannot test every combination, but I will bring this up to the Case Product manager and see if he has any suggestions.

figured with the rest of the case you would of tested the biggest of every component out there.

oh well still love the case.

  • Corsair Employees
You know what ever we do there is always something or someone out there that is bigger or fatter or wider or just plain something that we did not consider at the time of R&D. I am sorry is all I can say.:o:

I totally agree with a few of you as others are just emotionally not thinking this straight. (No I don't work for Corsair and have had my share of rants towards them.)

I myself am looking to purchase a GTX 780 Classified which I am sure I will run into the same issue but have a fix for it in a smaller 800D compared to the 900D.

That issue is NOT corsair's problem but yours and the manufacturers. I've been to EVGA's site and they custom make these enormous PCBs for the Classifieds all the time. There are people who are complaining just like you but obviously you're in the wrong forum and should be complaining to them as others have different PC cases and most are smaller than the 900D for that matter. All cases have a standard I believe of how much space there should be.

Also there are tools that can solve this problem if you took the time and looked around before "ranting" to the wrong folks.

Here's the tool I am using as I would advice those with the issue should also purchase for a really good price. - Link -

computer cases to me are like shoes to women. this is the 5th case my 680' classifieds have been in since ive bought them. and this is the first case i have had issues installing them in.

so yes it is the right place to voice my concerns since corsair made the 900d. and yes its corsairs fault since they made the case.

The case can hold the biggest of the radiators i think it should hold the biggest of the video cards.

its an awesome case. and my only complaint about the case. so far it has been near flawless. and have brought back memories of my early beige full tower cases. i will probably hold onto this case for a while or it will go on my shelves with my others.
