HOODedAssault
I'm just wondering if there really is any difference between the SP120 and the h100i stock fans (SP100L I think its called). RPM is obviously higher on the SP120L but is it safe to say I could run them in push/pull on my H100i on a fan controller at the same RPM and they would essentially perform the same ? Fin design looks exactly the same so I think it should be fine but figured id see what a rep had to say.
Bryman
They would work about the same I would stick with stock unless you like the looks of the SP fans
sinnedone
at the same rpm the sp120l's are louder than sp120's
bytes
You can go to: http://www.coolitsystems.com/index.php/products/retail.html and see the package description for the fans for your model vs. other SP fans available. CoolIT's site gives in-deepth info on all models made for Corsair. Russ
HOODedAssault
at the same rpm the sp120l's are louder than sp120's I don't know y they would be louder at same rpm. They have exact same fin design. Maybe maxed out they'd be louder cuz the l's are 2700rpm while the sp120 are 2350.

Both the sp120s in push and the sp120ls in pull will they perform exactly the same. Also kind of annoyed with the plastic insert on the sp120s as it makes it hard to mount them as the screw just pushes the insert down. Have to use a big washer. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 22, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 22, 2013 What is the exact part number of the SP{120 fans there are 4 versions of them?

Maybe maxed out they'd be louder cuz the l's are 2700rpm while the sp120 are 2350. I have switched to the new PWM version of the SP120 on my H100i and they are defenitely quieter than the stock fans at the same RPM. The revised stock fans (4pin) of the H100i still make a little (but irritating) "drrrrrrrr" at any speed, the PWM SP120 don't and when I compare the two, it's very noticeable. HOODedAssault
I realize the stock ones make a small vibration noise at high rpm. But I'd think sound of actual air moving would be the same as the sp. I have the 3 pin performance editions. CO-9050007-WW. Don't they all have the same fan design ? Hopefully the sp120l has the same design to. Then they should have the same specs at same rpm as the sp120. But be reassuring to here it from ram guy. HOODedAssault
why not just stick with stock...they are almost better Seriously. Did u read thread man ? I'm running sp120 and stock in push/pull. That's the reason for the question. Is running them at same rpm the same performance.
Bryman
oh sorry...i have ADD lol didnt read the rest of the thread :P lemme read it real quick... ok i think they will be ABOUT the same...i would only buy the non stock ones if you like the rubber or the looks...wont be much of a difference...i believe static pressure is about the same if not SLIGHTLY less than the stock ones...air flow about the same...so it really doesnt matter...stick with the sp120 if you want...need ram guy to confirm this though :) sorry i read through your thread real quick first time but didnt understand exactly what you ment...the stock fans go faster rpm then the sp120 right? but at same rpm my guess would be very similar in performance or is it same rpm? wytnyt
i would just go by the fans specs and of course if looks is a factor[and it is],you can always go with a fan thats even 30% weaker and still keep things cooled while i do have stockers ,i can run a good full load and never have the need to go to max air flow these coolers dissipate heat quite well. in fact i inadvertently laid a book on top of my computer covering over half the rad and only noticed a slight temp increase
Bryman
ya the only difference really is quality and that the sp120 have rubber and colors on them...the specs are very very similar

WesternDreaming
i actually went and unburied my stock fans and put them back as my Pushes ill confirm that they seem to be a bit better....( a look at the CL2 can confirm this to anyone ) at the Highest RPM they make more noise than the after markets

Quiet and move a ton of air. Corsairs at 1800 are significantly louder. But they look good Lol.

They have 2mm static pressure and they have probably best noise to static pressure ratio of any fan out there. This is why they are the choice fan for most with aggressive water cooling setups. That's totally false statement.
wytnyt
there are different typhoons,so perhaps your both right.
HOODedAssault
Ya mine are 1850s rated at 20pa which converts to just over 2mm h20. Lookup some 5400rpm typhoons lol about 150pa converts to 16mm/h2o. Prob rip right through an h100i rad LOL.
