coffeecoffee
Hello, I have just purchased a Corsair Raptor M4 and I love the size/feel of the mouse. However, the Utility software is not working/unusable for me atm. I have attached two screenshots of the Utility Program... something weird is going on! Please help. Warm Regards, Michael~
chimpozilla
I have the same problem. The software on this mouse is not working on Windows 7 64bit. When I plugged it in, windows said, 'device not installed properly'. I used it anyway and all seemed fine. I then installed the Raptor m4 version 2.0 software. The software appears but when you do anything, for example, do a key selection for button 5, it freezes. Only replugging it will free the mouse up. I do reviews for my clansite so would like an answer for this before beginning the review. Thanks.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 20, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 20, 2013 I will investigate this. Give me a day or two to find the mouse and test the software on my machine since i have x64 Windows 7.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 22, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 22, 2013 Hi all, Ive tested the mouse on Windows 7 x64 Professional and do not see any issues with it. Can you guys try to run it as administrator?
chimpozilla
Thanks for the swift reply. Will try your suggestion and get back. Unfortunately the Raptor M4 I've got is a Raptor one I think. Maybe old stock. Got it from Germany. I'm smelling a slight circuit board burning from within the mouse. Had no other problems even so, just the software. Stopped using it just in case and will do some investigative Googling. Anyway, gone onto other mouse reviews now. Will eventually return to the Raptor M4. Oh, btw, I've Windows 64bit Home but doubt that would make a difference. Thanks again.
coffeecoffee
Just tried and got the same result.... -sigh- I might return this mouse for the time being.... and pick it up when it's on sale again... but it's so comfy! Q_Q Edit: @chimpozilla: I think mine has a slight circuit burn too, it's a very distinct smell =( Edit2: Don't make me return this plox. I'm in love w/ the ergonomics of this mouse.... chimpozilla
Ah, glad you think the same about the burning smell. It gets on your hand so you can't miss it, and it's a unique smell. Like you, do like the moulded shape, excellent for sniper if that's your bag. The review I did on the Raptor(not from Corsair but a Raptor one) is on my clansite, the BN Nitwitts. I will get back to this mouse but I've got about 50 of them including the Func MS-3, Qpad 5LE and Mionix Naos which are similar to the Raptor M4. That's the reason I bought it, was looking for another decent moulded gaming mouse. On smelling the slight burning, and it is slight, did'nt want to take a chance so put it back in the box. Got a bagful of mice to review at present so bit busy. Also do reviews on gaming mousemats. Just got the Corsair MM200XL which is a nice one, have the M65 mouse and K90 mechanical keyboard..yes I do reviews on gaming keyboards as well, lol. So I'm not a Corsair knocker, I like their stuff very much.
Toasted
Have you tried reinstalling the software, does it help? Have you tried selecting a different language? Does it change anything?
coffeecoffee
Have you tried reinstalling the software, does it help? Have you tried selecting a different language? Does it change anything? Reinstalled more times than i care to admit. Selecting a different language only changes the language....
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 24, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 24, 2013 Hi guys, for those of you who got the "burnt-smelling" M4, can I get the serial number off of the mice? Its located on the barcode on the bottom of the device. As for those who have software issues, can you guys tell me exactly what video card you have, the version of drivers, and the OS Build (including service pack) you guys have? Also, have you all tried it on a different machine?

coffeecoffee
I apologize for the double post but this is important. My attempt to return the Raptor M4 mouse yesterday did not come to pass. I was told by the cashier that I was missing a accessory pouch which contained extra sets of feet for the mouse. *The accessory pouch is suppose to be contained within the bigger pouch for the mouse. Firstly, there is no way I could of lost it because when I first brought the M4 home, I carefully removed the mouse and only the mouse before reclosing the package. Secondly, I know this accessory pouch exists b/c the cashier showed me a open box M4, to my surprise there was indeed a spare feet pouch. I don't mind keeping the mouse. But would it be possible for corsair to mail me a accessory pouch that contains the extra sets of feet for the Raptor M4? Coffee~
Toasted
I don't think there is an accessory pouch as its not listed in the product page. But you can request an RMA and ask if the Raptor M4 do include an accessory pouch.

coffeecoffee
Just treat this as a rant thread and delete it if you want. I am fed up with this, I don't even care anymore. The last time I bought a M90 on boxing day, it died in 2 months (couldn't get a signal - common issue at the time). I had to persist on said hardware failure just to get my RMA approved. Only to find out shipping was too expensive (the mouse weighed a ton, shipping was just shy of $35 CDN). THIS TIME, the Raptor M4 (retail) I bought was missing the accessory pouch. Resulting in being denied by the cashier when I tried to return it. I need to shell out ($25 for shipping - assuming I get RMA) if I want the accessory pouch that was suppose to come with the product in the first place. Furthermore, if I do get the replacement, I'll lose out on the rebate for it. To top it all off, this is all I got from Corsair support. And I QUOTE "Created By: Jacob TS (6/2/2013 7:25 PM) Hello. Im very sorry but we do not have that as a spare part. if it is missing we will have to replace the whole mouse." Well, NO THANKS. I'll just have to settle for the rebate and move on. Corsair, my patience and confidence in your products has been truly taxed. Coffee~
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 7, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 7, 2013 I'm sorry for the issues Coffee. You don't need to return the original box if you want to apply for the rebate and we can exchange the mouse for you to get the accessories you want. If shipping expenses are an issue, please contact our customer service and explain the situation to them as it is at their discretion for label requests (and if you had any questions about the rebate). Unfortunately not all products have spare parts, and if you want an accessory bag, we would have to replace the mouse for you.
chimpozilla
Really given up on the Raptor m4. Not a run and gun mouse, which is my style in Blops2. Better suited to a sniper role for Battlefield 3 in my opinion. However below is the info you requested. Serial nos of mouse..029612530100722 Windows 7 64bit home pack 1 Radeon 6970 2gb driver version 8.920.0.0 Someone here is reporting the same problems with, I think, the latest ATI drivers. Be interested to see if this thread gets bigger once the Raptor M4 starts being purchased in numbers.

chimpozilla
Yes, yes I was experiencing the burn smell. It's a circuit board burn smell..you can't mistake it. I did see a user review on Amazon and he reported failure of the mouse after a month, as I remember. He had two Raptors, different models, both failed. Think I included it in my review listed below. I've done a review on this mouse for my clan, the 'BN Nitwitts'. The problems and praises with the Raptor M4 are all listed here.. http://www.clantoolz.com/brookdalenitwitts/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=546&whichpage=4 The Raptor M4 review is about halfway down. Done amateur reviews on 50+ gaming mice so far. I like the moulded gaming mice such as the Qpad 5LE/Mionix 5000/Func m3 so just gave the Raptor M4 a try. Think Corsair is a great company, got the K90, the M200 and the M65, all class acts, so my concern is not powered by bitterness, just don't want to see Corsair have more problems with this than necessary, if you get my drift. I've put the Raptor M4 back in the box for now until a solution is found, no problems for me. Using and doing a review on the Mionix 5000 at present. Apologies, btw, did'nt mean to write an essay but thought it all relevant. Ram Guy, your enthusiasm is much appreciated. Thanks.
