Dmgdisher
3 weeks ago I bought a SP2500 2.1 speakerset at a webshop to pair it up with my Essence STX soundcard. A week later it arrived and I hooked it up straight away. The moment I switched on the control thingy it started producing a very high pitched continuus beep. It was at a very low volume but loud enough to be audible above the sound of the fans from my pc. Best description of the beep would be the one you have in your ears after standing too close to the speakers of a very loud heavy metal concert, very very annoying. If I turned on the television or listened to some music through the speakers, it would override the beep. However the moment it was silent I would hear it again. So I contacted the webshop, got a RMA and the webshop determined that indeed the controller was faulty so they sent me a new SP2500. So I hooked it up again, guess what: Same beep from the controller. This happened this evening and tomorrow I am going to RMA this set aswell and just get my money back. The reason I am putting this here is that I find it too coïncidental for these 2 individual sets to have the exact same malfunction. I fear that you (Corsair) might have a faulty batch of products... or I am extremely unlucky. I don't know if I am the only one who ever experienced this, but I couldn't find it anywhere else on these forums. In any case here are the serialnumbers I found on the remote: 12499109 FW 1.05.08A And here's the one I found on the subwoofer: EU: 1212005266 Due to this experience I am not going to take any more 2.1 speakersets, instead I have chosen to go with seperate reciever / speaker setup. I hope that this information might lead to an improvement of the controller for the speakerset so it is silent. Just to not make me sound very angry or so, the sound that came out of the set was pretty damn good :) It's just that the controllers beep is a dealbreaker for me. cheers
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 17, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 17, 2013 I've never seen two failing control pods before but I have seen similar issues with the beeping related to grounding issues. I will pass your findings along though so while I am sad to see that you returned the product, your feedback is always appreciated.
Brahmeister
You are not alone, and i think this problem is a bit too common. I also have the same problem, corsair unfortunately used 9 days to respond to the support ticket, so i'm no longer able to get money back from the store and buy a different brand. Now i have to send the brand new remote to Holland....for a replacement. Not satisfied at all. The sound is great from the set though, but the buzzing makes it not worth it if you don't want to rush to the remote and power the system off every time you don't use it. peanutz94
Brahmeister , I would call CS by phone and exp[lain the situation to them. Since the unit is less than 30 days old they will pay for the shipping costs as well. They may even send you a new one in advance if you ask about it. But give them a chance to make things right. I know they have been swamped lately and why tickets are taking longer than usual . That and they are in the process of improving their RMA system , so changes are being made.. But calling them would be the best solution. Since you are out of the US you can uSE SKYPE to make the call for nothing. Just be sure to watch the time difference. Their hours of operation are at the top of every forum page and it will also tell you if they are open or not. You are not alone, and i think this problem is a bit too common. Not really. They sell thousands of these units monthly. So even given the complaints you see the issue is not much of a real problem. Even if you added them all up and compared them to the number of units sold its quite small. In fact if you look through the forums there are very few complaints about the SP speakers. I don't see your name in the system Brah. I will assist you if you provide me the case number.
