Subzie
Hi folks I was thinking of potentially changing the fan that I use on my H60 for 2 new ones for push pull, im thinking of getting the corsair AP series, is it worth getting a twin pack of the SP120's for push/pull or have 1xSP 120mm for push and 1xAP120 for the pull out the back of the case, also what screws would I need to get in order to be able to mount the 2 fans, cause a looooong time ago I had a 2nd set of corsair mounting screws and stuff sent to me via the forum which was great, there was only 1 thing missing and it was the actual screws to mount a 2nd fan. Currently using 1 Akasa viper (sorry if im not suppose to say another brand), I sometimes feel this ramps up to max when in something like guildwars 2. WesternDreaming
my current fave config is an SP between the rad and case, and an AF mounted case side, both directing air out of the case, its a minor difference to really get all specific about this stuff, but im getting an extra 1-3c by using this config on all my rads
peanutz94
Idealy you would want something as good as or better than the stock fans which specs are as follows.. Fan speed: 2000RPM +/- 10% Fan airflow: 54 CFM Fan dBA: 30.85 dBA Fan static pressure: 2.36mm/H20 Static pressure being the most important factor to be able to push air through the rad. Bryman
stock fans are 4mm/H20 why would you change them?
peanutz94
stock fans are 4mm/H20 why would you change them? That is for the H100 bryman. The H60 has different specs. http://www.corsair.com/us/cpu-cooling-kits/hydro-series-water-cooling-cpu-cooler/hydro-series-h60-high-performance-liquid-cpu-cooler.html Please post links that would back up your answers. Theres enough bad information floating around the forums as it is.. I'm not trying to sound like a !@#$ just want everyone to get the correct information on the products they have. Subzie
alright, so I am thinking Is the following: For pushing air through the rad. 1 x 120mm Corsair Air Series SP120 Quiet Edition, High Pressure, 1450rpm, 37.85CFM, 23dB or 1 x 120mm Corsair Air Series SP120 High Performance Edition, High Pressure, 2350rpm, 62.74CFM, 35dB For pulling the air out the back of the case 1 x 120mm Corsair Air Series AF120 Performance Edition, High Airflow & Low Noise, 1650rpm, 63.47CFM, 30dB or 1 x 120mm Corsair Air Series AF120 Quiet Edition, High Airflow & Low Noise, 1100rpm, 39.88CFM, 21dB also where would I be able to get some screws for these, or is it just worth using 2 screws on 1 fan and use 2 screws on the other that was provided with the cooler
Bryman
i would get performance edition for the rad one at least since you can turn those down...but for the case well it depends how much airflow you need
peanutz94
The fans should come with their own screws . If you need more for the radiator then you would need to source them yourself. They are 6/32x1.25in long.
Subzie
well in my case at the moment I have 3x120mm adjustable fans for intake on the front. 1x120mm for exhaust on the rear, 1x200mm for exhaust on the top and for some reason I have 1x120mm on the radiator blowing intake, that's one reason I want to switch out prolly thinking 1x120mm performance SP fan on the push and a quiet 120mm AP on the pull tbh
peanutz94
prolly thinking 1x120mm performance SP fan on the push and a quiet 120mm AP on the pull tbh I would really advise against this. The fans have different blade profiles and all that is going to do is cause turbulance between the two fans and could actually lower the cooling ability of your cooler. If your going to do a P/P it's best to have all matched fans.
Bryman
did you mean the performance for the rad and quiet for the case? if not then look at peanutz94 post right above me ^^^^ its kinda pointless doing AF for the rad...go with sp
Subzie
aint it best to use the SP fans which are Static Pressure fans to push the air through the radiator and the AP fans which are Air Pressure ones like case one to pull it outside the case which is what I said in the above post? AF Fans even. typo there
peanutz94
I believe he meant one SP on one side of the RAD and an AF on the other. Then you just have one fan fighting against the other because they were designed for different applications.
Bryman
ya subzie...SP fans for rad and AF fans for just normal case fans which have nothing they have to squeeze air through
