Vague
I'm using a h80i for the first time and my CPU is at stock and it's temp is at 30-34(°C) and when i do a stress test it goes to 60(°C) http://i.imgur.com/CzeEPJZ.png Is that normal "New to this"
Vague
Just overclocked to 4.3ghz and it was going to 93(°C) "stress test"
sinnedone
Cpu temperature is dependant on ambient temps and voltage being put through it. IF your h80i is installed correctly and you simply used the auto overclock feature of your board its probably pushing too many volts through it. Need more info as far as complete system specs and voltage at overclocked cpu speed.

Bryman
did you clean off the old thermal paste first? and whats voltage at?

Bryman
assuming that it was 60C at stock but 93C at just 4.3ghz...i would say that SINCE your stock temps were low then your overclock voltage is too high... sinnedone is right unless you post more info...its just guessing ok the i5 2500k does get somewhat hot but shouldnt be 93C at 4.3ghz...check your voltage

Anyway my light keeps going Purple 2mins after i turn my PC on, So my H80i is getting RMA'd on Tuesday. Thanks for the help though.
Bryman
...did you install the new corsair link beta version? try that first well just FYI when you go above i think 3.9ghz it turns up the voltage by about 0.100 automatically...but still temps seem high...might be 3.8 for i5 actually

Bryman
ya for my i7 3770k at stock its about 1.12 volts but overclocked to 3.9 its at 1.2-1.25 volts...and thats with +0 voltage...i tested with 4.2 and same thing 1.2-1.25 volts (forgot exact voltage which is why im saying 1.2-1.25) but it doesnt keep increasing i think it stops at 3.9ghz
peanutz94
Guys you all have to remember that not all CPU's even given the same part number are not going to overclock exactly the same. Some CPU's will just run hotter than others no matter what. And the I5's are not known for being the best overclocker to begin with. I think his temps are right around where they should be at 4.3ghz and what you are seeing for stock values. . If the unit was faulty your idle temps would certainly be higher. The only thing I can suggest is to try resetting the pump with new thermal paste and see if your temps won't go down a couple of degrees. One other thing I didn't see mention is are you using the stock fans with the H80 or aftermarket?

Some CPU's will just run hotter than others no matter what. That's a given, but considering theres no info on voltage at x frequency , ambient temps, airflow in case details its really just guessing. My 2500k at 4.5 at 1.31v tops out on the hottest core at 70-72 ater 12-16 hours of either prime or intel burn test in a case with poor ventilation and fans at max rpm. It could be many things like voltage, fan configuration, poor mounting, faulty unit etc etc. I think 90 is to high at that frequency, and "one notch from default" doesn't really mean anything. OP get cpuz load up prime 95 or intel burn test and check what voltage levels are at idle and under 100% load. I have a feeling your one not from stock is too high a voltage which in the end will shorten the life of your cpu.
