gubbelur
Hi! I recently got the 3-pin fans replaced by 4-pin fans which took care of the high pitched fan noise that I expreienced from my h80i. I also upgraded the pump firmware to 1.05 to adress the loud noise emanating from the pump. However, the pump itself is still quite loud. In an otherwise quiet room I measure 50 dBa outside the computer chassis, much louder than the 37.68 dBa that Corsair brags about on the product page. The noise does not correlate with fan speed. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to take care of this issue?
Bryman
pump should be near silent (quieter than the fans) theres something wrong
wytnyt
have you tried preessing on the block to see if the noise changes [loose mounting] or tapping it to see if it changes the pump does spin at ~2200 rpm and will produce a small hum but if something surrounding it is loose then the pump will amplify in noise
gubbelur
Thank you for your suggestions! The block sits firmly on the board and the noise doesn't change by neither pressing nor tapping the block. I tried disconnecting all fans and the noise remained at 48 dBa for the pump alone. As decibel is logarithmic, a difference in noise by 10 dBa means that the noise is 10 times louder than normal...
Bryman
Pump should be over twice as quiet as the fans there is something wrong maybe not with the actual pump but something
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 14, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 14, 2013 Thank you for your suggestions! As decibel is logarithmic, a difference in noise by 10 dBa means that the noise is 10 times louder than normal... Sounds like the noise is resonating from the pump itself. I would get that unit replaced. Please use the link on the left and start an RMA process.
gubbelur
I think so too. Had the whole computer on its side running all day to remove any trapped air in the pump but the noise persists. It's audible well across the room and into adjacent rooms of the house.
