Alphakilo
I just found my PC in an off state, and turned it back on only for it to complain (via Asus AI suite) that the CPU temp is over 70 deg and rising. I opened it up, blow out the small amount of dust, and powered it back up. This time BIOS was complaining about over CPU over temp but I could see the extractor fan on the radiator was turning ok, and powered off. This time left it for 10 mins to cool down. Powered on again, temps are 50 deg and rising. AI suite says that CHA_FAN3 (where pump is connected) is at 0 RPM. I figured the pump must not be working, and powered off to move it to another fan connector (went for CPU_OPT as it was nearest). Left it to cool, and powered back on. Temp is 50+ deg and rising, and CPU_OPT is at 0 RPM. I'm guessing the pump has failed. Does that sound probable? The cooler is Corsair H60 Hydro series
peanutz94
Thats what it sounds like. Just use the link on the left to request an RMA.
Alphakilo
Thanks, I have lodged and RMA with the OEM as it's under their warranty. Another test I did was to feel the pipes. Both felt cold. I expected if all's working ok with the pump, one pipe would be warm? So could 2 cold pipes be confirmation of a dead pump?
Bryman
not really coolent temps are usually about 90 degrees Fahrenheit max and its rubber so you wouldnt really feel them warm but if temps are that high at idle then your pump is probably dead especially if its showing 0 rpm in bios
Alphakilo
I checked in BIOS, the fan speed for CPU_OPT is shown as "N/A". According to the board's manual, this means it's disconnected.
Bryman
if your getting 50+ C idle temps go ahead and RMA it what i would do is SLIGHTLY stress it maybe run like 1 thread on intelburntest for 5-10 seconds then stop it and see if temp goes down if it doesnt then it means pump isnt working...watch temps closely though
LilTECH
Try to go into BIOS and make sure that the minimum fan speed is not set to 0% on the port your pump is plugged into, or try to plug the fan into the same port to see if it works. If it dosen't then just request an RMA. I wouldn't mess with it if I were you. Stress testing it is very dangerous. Usually air bubbles can cause this and it would go away, but if the pump is showing 0 RPM or N/A that means it a defective unit. I have an H60 myself on an AMD 1045t Overclocked, and it has never gone above 33 degrees C. You can request an Advance/Express RMA to speed things up
Bryman
well the only reason i suggested it is because when i was first setting up my pump i didnt have the power plugged in and i stress tested and when i stopped the temp stayed high and thats how i knew pump wasnt working
Alphakilo
I went into BIOS and turned off Q-fan control to ensure max output for the fan connector, still nothing. I'm back to chassis fan 3. I looked in the alert log of Asus AI Suite II, up til today Chassis Fan 3 had been showing RPM values so I'm starting to think it's defo a dead pump. Will wait to hear from the OEM as to my RMA request.
peanutz94
Guys, there is no need to keep this poor guy troubleshooting. If it was a new instal i could see it. But this is a unit that has been installed for some time and just quit. It's cut and dry...Just RMA it!
Alphakilo
Heard from the OEM they authorized the RMA, replacement H60 on the way
Alphakilo
Replacement H60 arrived today, all's good. Pump RPM up to around the 2500 mark on idle, CPU temp stable at around 32 deg
