Dear Corsair,

A Friend of mine has this Acer Veriton X490G

Specs

CPU : Core i3 530 @ 2,93 GHz

Memory : Samsung 2 x 1gb @ 1333MHz dual channel

Chipset / Mainboard : Intel H57

HDD : 160Gb

Powersupply : 220W

OS : Win 7 - 32bit

He told me that his Mini desktop was running kinda slow so after some checking i found out that he was using allot of RAM. so i did a small update and bought a Samsung 840 SSD (120gb) & Corsair XMS3 2x4gb dual channel memory. first i installed windows 7 64 bit on the SSD (cauze the 32 bit only supports up to +- 4gb) and this worked perfect.

then i replaced the old memory with the XMS3 and turned it on. Thats were it just got stuck on startup (Bios Screen).. I removed the memory and tried them on my Setup, thought they were maby broke but they work perfectly.

Im kinda out of options now, dont really know what to do..

anybody a solution or reason why this isnt working?

Greetz,

Swkippy

Did you clear the BIOS or see if there was a BIOS update for that system?

What is the exact part number of the modules you have?

I'm wondering if the modules are not compatible. I know some of the I3 CPU need modules made with 256x8 IC and the new modules you have now are 512x8 IC's. They may be incompatible.

On your old set , how many chips on each side of the modules are there?

If clearing the BIOS first doesn't allow them to boot correctly, then I would wait and see what RamGuy has to say about this.

Yes it seems like there are some bios updates.

Im gonna do those first.

part number of the Corsair XMS3's are : CMX8GX3M2A1333C9

The old Samsung Ram Modules : M378B2873EH1-CH9 & 1gb 1Rx8 pc3 10600U-09-10-AO. There are 2x4 chips on one side of the module, the other side does not have any chips on it.

For a 1 gig module those would be 128MB IC's then . The 4 gig modules are 512mbIC's and may be too dense for that system to see.

I would wait and let RamGuy se this and see what he has to say.

He is correct I am sorry but your system will not support our DDR1333 modules that we are building now unless they are version# X.1X any of our modules that is version X.2X will be made with 512M X 8 memory IC's and your system will not detect them.

According to the Acer Find Compatible Products the CMV4GX3M2A1333C9 should fit,

but if there made with 512M ic's they wont be compatible?

if not, where can i maby find some that actually work?

Correct!. I hate to say this but you may have to go back to ACER to buy the memory from them. What version are the modules you have now? If they are version x.1x they will work. If they are x.2x they would not.
