H100i usb device not recognized

I received my replacement unit for the h100 yesterday and was excited to have it installed into my system and was disappointed to find that I have driver issues.

When plugging the USB directly into a usb port, the cooler is recognized.

Even plugging it to my laptop worked.

However, when plugged in to the usb header on the mobo with the cable provided, I get the error "usb device not recognized". I've also tried plugging it to the front panel usb which is connected to the usb header on the mobo. That didn't work so I know it's not the cables problem.

Right now I have the usb wired to the the back for the cooler to be recognized. I want to know why the mobo usb header doesn't work.

theres issues with m/b headers, they all are interlaced together ,it isnt so much of a fault with the hydro as it is with the design of the m/b regardless of what some may say.

using the rear port you have more of a dedicated line that isnt shared and since the hydro constantly works,it needs a dedicated source

unlike many usb devices they can handle sharing

an email msg is separated in packets and once it reaches its destination they are reassembled but the hydro needs a uninterrupted process.

So by that logic if I unplug every single USB device from my computer except the H100i there should be no issue?

For the record, I've just tried that, and it still shows as an unknown device in device manager

I also had issue with the C Link software when I first installed unit.

I plugged unit into USB header on motherboard>booted computer>was prompted by OS that driver was NOT successfully installed for unit>I installed the C Link software>It also installed the driver>launched C Link utility and it was unable to recognize unit

I did some research and discovered that other people were having same issue. I noticed in one post that unplugging the G15 KB from computer fixed issue. I unplugged my G15>rebooted computer>now software was able to recognize pump in C Link and I was able to change options. When I plugged G15 back in the C Link software would not recognize the pump/fans anymore are relaunch. Issue persisted

I uninstalled the software> re-installed: same issues

I connected the pump into a different USB header on motherboard>OS displayed that the driver installed correctly>reconnected to previous USB header: unit was fully functional now (also had G15 still plugged in)

was it like this when you installed the cooler?

it hard for me to put into words that will make sense but say a item was plugged into port 1 on the m/b,used then disconnected, theres still a 'notation' in windows for that device.when you install another device it needs to make accommodations for the first device .

the hydro/link needs a clean path, and yes it should be able to share and hopefully new releases will allow it but this is just what ive surmised after lots of hair pulling.

most devices are like the email example, they can operate in 'pulses' whereas the hydro/link constantly works and updates its readings.

and maybe who knows i may be totally wrong but i do have 2 working h100I's with multiple cooling nodes working without a single glitch.

well being perfectly honest, out of 12 drives in one computer, link doesnt read 2

So what would you recommend to make windows "forget" the other USB devices?
you can try reinstalling the software after plugging it to another header, but it first needs to be uninstalled of course but i simply am lazy and ran it to an rear exterior usb 2.0

i hope it works out for you, these coolers are great for computer controlling.

I do too. You have no idea how excited I was when I unboxed my command, cooling and lighting bundle. So excited I ordered an H100i, and then that's when the problems started.

Up until today my biggest gripe was the link software forgetting where I put stuff which I could deal with, but this is getting beyond silly!

Oh well, I think a good nights sleep is what I need. I'm starting to get grumpy with it!

Right now the USB link appears to be the weak "LINK" in this product. Mine is only recognized on the header it was on when I installed it and the software. I needed to move it to another port but could not get it to work. Moved it back to the original and works fine. Did not try a complete removal of the software as wytnyt suggested, you have to do more then use Windows remove program as it leave crumbs in several places. Found another solution rather then move the H100i USB cable. The cooler is great when everything is working but can be frustrating when it doesn't.

unfortunately your right

i think where things get beyond control is a install is done on several ports and each port[even tho uninstalled] still wants to attempt to work,im guilty of doing the same.people think this is a simple program controlling a few fans and it isnt,it virtually monitors and controls most every aspect of a computer.
