ckoons1
here it is CMP16GX3M4X1600C7 may i ask which motherboards these are compatable with? does the lower latency cause a problem with newer quad channel boards? going to go z77 route thx
ckoons1
will these work with GIGABYTE Z77 UP7 motherboard? thx
peanutz94
Yes, they would still be compatible with that board too.

Did you test the memory? or have it replaced at one time? But yes, XMP will still work in that board.
ckoons1
the memory passed memtest for 12 hours and has never been replaced i was told by someone at gigabyte the the board x79 up5 wasnt compatable with the timings etc of the ram being an older model.i noticed that the CPMP ram corsair recommends for the x79 up5 has a latency of 10. theese are a latency of 7. perhaps if i would have raised the latency up they would have worked. i dont know. ckoons1
x79 seems very picky about ram. never had that problem on z77 boards
peanutz94
i noticed that the CPMP ram corsair recommends for the x79 up5 has a latency of 10. theese are a latency of 7. perhaps if i would have raised the latency up they would have worked. i dont know. Yes, that is very possible. But they should have been just fine even on that system at CL7 7-8-8-24. @1333mhz. Tested latency is 9-9-9-24@1600mhz. And that should have run just as good on either board. Kinda wish you still had it. Would be interesting to test It's possible that the XMP profile just wasn't being read correctly by the BIOS either by fault of the BIOS or incorrect SPD information on the module. Age is also a factor. The x79 uses the newer XMP v1.3 vs the the older XMP spec of your modules. So you may have no choice but to set them manually even on the new board if they do the same .Perhaps cl8 across the board would have done it? But if all is stable i wouldn't worry about it. ckoons1
i have the gigabyte z77 up7 on the way. hopefully they will work on the z77 board. never had trouble with them until i tried going with the x79 boards. thats what the guy from gigabyte said that the modules wernt being read correctly by the board because they were an older model. ill know soon when new board comes in. thx
ckoons1
they were bsod even @ latency of 9 1333mhz hoping you're right and they were being read incorretly and they work fine with the z77 up7. cant see why they wouldnt. i was told that z77 plays better with memory then x79
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 8, 2013 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 8, 2013 Did you update the MB BIOS and load setup defaults before you enabled XMP?
